Well,I'm new to this site (a few weeks) and I haven't figured out how to use most of it. I had already been Atkinsing for about 3 weeks from memory when I found this site as I was looking for a carb counter.
I know from last time around (25 years ago) that the key for me was not using "pretend" products but cooking with easily accessible, cost-friendly, easy to prepare, foods that I really liked. Not trying to make the carb-overloaded food into low carb varieties. Hey, it worked for me. I'd love to see more Atkins induction friendly recipes here. I lived that lesson well until 5 years ago. I got addicted to starches again which was purely my own fault.
The recipes I've found here so far are fine. It's just that when I see something with a 3.5 carb count I don't want to see the "serving" be 1 tsp. Most of the people who have success with Atkins is because the allowed foods are "unlimited". For me, I'd rather have a whole chicken than 1/8 oz chocolate, unsweetened, dark.
I think we should work on helping each other with some reasonably portioned, superb tasting, next to no-carb, induction recipes to help get people started off right, and to help those of us who hit plateaus get back in the game.
I added one of my favorite "new" invention recipes yesterday. HUGE serving, under 5 carbs. I intend to try to add at least one new one every week (after I get finished posting all my favorites that I don't already see here). And, just because YOU know something is so simplistic doesn't mean EVERYONE does. My advice is to post ANY recipe that is under 10 carbs.
Of course, I'm new. Don't know all the rules, certainly can't figure out the site. Some great person gave me some wonderful advice in message and I can't even figure out where it is to thank them! But, I do know low carb, and I do know how to cook. If you don't kick me out, lol, I'll share!
