Those fluctuation are what gets me. I was not going to weigh in for a couple of days do to falling off the wagon Thursday night. So, I skip yesterday and it felt good. I'm thinking to myself I will not weigh in until Sunday and by that time things (internal) will have adjusted somewhat by then. NOT! I could not wait until Sunday do to the obsession. Stepped on this morning and somewhere along the way in the past day I have eaten over my burn by 17,500 because according to it I have gain five pounds from Thursday.Shock

Knowing mathematically that is impossible helps a little. Still not grasping why it happens (completely) does not. And doing more research on the topic is out for me at this point.

I do feel like it is a never ending battle. I understand the whole life style change is forever thing and have done really well with that. I just don't do well with these fluctuations. Especially when it nudges 140. Sad Crying or Very sad

Well, tomorrow is another day. Let's hope is drops.

I usually weigh in at the same time every Tuesday morning. If I weighed in everyday I would obsess over the slight variations of weight that happens from day to day.

For myself, personally, NOT weighing is what got me into the shape I'm in now (round!)! To me it's easy to ignore what you won't see. Fluctuations are not only a normal part of life, but they are great indicators of other health and body issues as well. So, after steadily losing for 5 weeks, I'm gaining. What???? I could be stressing, but I KNOW that the last three day's weight gain directly correlate to getting up off my lazy behind and walking 3.5 miles everyday for the last week. What is visible is that the "saggy baggy elephant thingy" is giving way to a more taunt body line. At 175 lbs? Yes. And that's saying something. Just like the scales say something. I think it's best for me to weigh everyday, (same time, same place) take a good long look in the mirror everyday, pay attention to how my clothes feel and look everyday. THEN, reflect. Did I adhere to my diet 100%, did I exercies effectively? If I did,then hurrah! If I didn't it's a wake up call.
For some people 5 lbs is fluctuation, for others it's a catastrophe. My advice is pick what works best to keep you informed, evaluate it at least quarterly and move on!

Well, I will say this. exacty a month ago i weighed and started on this new journey. I lost 7 punds in 14 days, at first, then I weighed again a week later and was up about a pound, attributed it to sugar alcohols in the candy I was eating. Stopped it, went down almost a pound by the next day. So, I weigh this morning and back up a about a pound. Then I measured. THAT is where the proof was! In a month, I have lost a total of 12 inches overall! So, the scale is NOT the best, or only way, to know you ARE making progress.

Works for me. I rarely skip a day. Only skip when I have been bad Embarassed .

I weigh once a week...On Fridays of course, so that I have some time to undo the weekend's indiscretions (if there are any). I did weigh myself for 3 days consecutaively once, but the downside of gaining 400g a day far outweighs the up of the previous day's 600g loss, so I left it at that...

I weigh in daily, the same time each day. If I have a bad weigh-in one day, I redouble my efforts so I won't have a bad weigh-in the next day. Of course, I promise myself not to get upset over a single day's reading. If I have 3 or 4 bad weigh-ins in a row, it's time to get serious.

I threw out my bathroom scales, too easy to get obsessed with over-frequent weighing. If you are someone who feels they absolutely MUST weigh every day, the Libra app on Android (and likely other platforms too) is a great tool for plotting trend rather than the exact graph, so the daily fluctuations are taken into account and (hopefully!) less disheartening. I use this app for my weekly weigh in, you don't have to do it daily but it might help those that do to keep from discouragement. Being a healthy weight is, of course, a good thing and to be aimed for, but don't let it take over your life to the exclusion of all else - you have to LIVE along the way!
Love the journey as well as the results. And fall down 7 times, get up 8!

Nov '11: 12st 11lb... June '12: 42lb lost while still age 42 (just!)...

I weigh myself once weekly. I see results this way which is an encouragement. Since I have started back on my diet 68 days ago I feel better and am eating much healthier. For me to see true weight loss results it consists of exercise and cutting back on the calories. Once you get into a habit and routine it gets easier.

Actually that is not to bad. I weight myself each Sunday morning after I have had my constitutional and before the first meal of the day. This way it helps me to know what my true weight in the buff. So far I have avoided weighting myself each day due the fact your weight will go up and down based on water. What I have found is that weighting on a certain day gives (for me aleast) a better level as to where I am on my quest for dropping another 14.5 pounds.
All journeys began with the first step and ends only when you get there.
