Does anyone know the extent that out of wack hormones can play on dieting?

A lot. The emotional swings, the physical symptoms... all play into our food cravings, etc. Just be sure it's hormones and not something else... it's easy to blame hormones when something else could be to blame. Best to have it confirmed by a doctor.

As Evelyn said, make sure it is hormones. I felt like the poster child for messed up hormones. Gained 100 lbs after a total hysterectomy and didn't take HRT's. Finally put two and two together and saw many doctors.

I began by doing a saliva test which I got online and sent for evaluation. They were crazy. Totally out of whack. They claimed PCOS, but I'd already had a hysterectomy with ovaries removed. After a year of fruitlessly popping vitamins (45/daily) prescribed by a self-proclaimed hormone specialist, I gave up on her and knew I had to find someone who really understood hormones.

Took 20 years, but I found a GYN who specialized in hormone inbalances. She then referred me to an Endocrinologist who believed in treating a patient according to symptoms and not lab values dating back to 1972. I'm on Armour Thyroid 60mg.

High estrogens will hold you back from losing weight.

My current doc has me on "troches" which are compounded. Bioidentical hormones with estrogen at 1.25 to 50 Progesterone. Took a year, but I found the perfect balance.

Just beware of the places that advertise "fatigue, sexual dysfunctions, etc". It's a high priced business where they sometimes implant hormones under the skin.

Good luck.

I have been to the doctor. My gyn has been trying to help get me back on track since I had a baby 3 years ago. I am losing its just frustrating because at certain times of the month I feel like I gain 10 lbs over night. The scale usually goes up 5 lbs. The cravings aren't bad because I usually don't feel like eating at all. Thanks for the advice. Since I lost 2 more lbs this week I will just keep doing what I am doing and just not weigh myself those two weeks during the month.

Thanks again for the advice and support. It helps knowing I am not the only one that struggles. Keep up the good work with your goals, I know you will be successful.

There's a reason they call it the curse. Between the cravings and water weight gain....

Keep up the good work.

Thanks.

Are you sure you should be eating that many calories? I realize you're trying to bulk, but I think that might be overkill, and you'll put on unwanted fat. www.musclehack.com/how-many-ca... What ...
