Here's a question about fuel for a hard workout.

I will run a very hilly 5 mile road race on Sunday, and though I've raced a lot before, I actually think I could do really well in this one. Here's the rub: my husband says I shouldn't worry about maintaining a calorie deficit for the next three days in order to fuel my body well for the race. What do you think?

I have often struggled with serving the dual masters of fuel for training and trying to lose weight simultaneously, and have often thought that I should concentrate on one or the other.

Thoughts?

Any great tips for what's best to eat leading up to the race?

In 5 years time, are you going to remember your race time, or the 3 days you spent maintaining your calorie deficit?

My 2 cents: Go for your dream run with everything you have, and everything your body needs.

So how did your race go?? What did you end up eating?

Inquiring racer minds want to know!! My first road race of the year is coming up in exactly one month - so exciting!!

Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is not that day.
