I started trying to lose weight after Christmas. I know I have lost weight and inches around my stomach, but now I can't get the scale to budge. I try to exercise 5-6 days a week as my job allows. I do 45-60 minutes of zumba followed by 20-30 minutes of Jillian Michaels. Then before bed I try to run on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I eat 1500 calories a day and try to track everything. My husband says I look great, but the scale reads 185 and for my height that is obese. I don't know what more I can do. Any advice ?

I find that I sometimes plateau for 2 or 3 weeks and then like magic I'll drop a bunch all at once. I can't explain it, I just know it happens.

Keep doing what your doing and it will be fine. If after a couple weeks you still haven't dropped, you may want to mix up your intake a bit. If you do low cal, try moving to low fat. If you do low carb, try moving to low cal, etc... I find that sometimes I just need to let my body have the particular food I've been denying it and then my fat cells relax and let go! Smile

Best of luck! Don't let this momentary delay frustrate you. Remember to breathe deeply!

You are exercising a lot and 1500 calories is not enough to provide the energy you need. Your body is probably holding on to the weight as a defense mechanism to what it perceives as starvation. Try eating a bit more. As strange as it sounds it may be just what you need to start losing.

Thanks for the advice. I was able to lose 2lbs this week even with my daughter's 3rd birthday.

I started going to the gym about 2½ months ago. Since then I haven't dropped any weight whatsoever. I go at least 4 times per week.
I did, however, cut my body fat percentage from 21 to 7. You might be surprised what is going on "under the hood". Do you feel that you're making progress at the gym? Are you able to handle heavier weights? Are you stronger, faster, leaner?
I am a total scale addict. I want to see weight loss. However, it's just not happening - so I am happy to see the change in the other numbers. It makes me see that there are definitely things happening, even when it doesn't feel like it.
Trust me, I know your frustration. I've been there for months. It wasn't until recently I found out about my body fat.

Actually I am making process. I was only using 3 lb weights during my jillian michaels workouts and now I use 5 lbs. I started zumba at 45 minutes and now do 60 minutes and my runs on my elliptical went from 20 minutes to 30-45 minutes. Today I didn't get a chance to exercise because of work, I own my own business; however my toddler did not want to sit around tonight and watch tv. She wanted to play games on the Wii. So at least I did not sit around all night.

If I weigh myself daily I know the result is a myth. There are too many variables to rely on a once a day reading, such as water retention, forgotten calories,temperature/humidity on scale reading (either ...
