How do I count calories when I eat out?

So I want to go to an Indian food restaurant for dinner tonight, and I don't think they have calorie counts on their menus, how do I count my calories there?

I've not eaten at all today hoping that if I don't eat anything then when I do eat dinner I shouldn't go over 2200 calories. This seems ridiculous to me but I am really set on loosing weight.

Can anyone give me any tips? I work at Mcdonalds and even though I can count my calories there it doesn't seem like I'm eating well enough.

Does it matter what I eat as long as I count calories?

I'm so lost.

Find equivalents and add them that way. That's all I do at least

Sometimes I try to find equivalents. Sometimes I know better than to try.

Last night I had tea smoked eel rolls, beef cheeks in orange sauce, and kung pao pastrami. Accurate calorie counts for these dishes just aren't availble.

When calorie counts aren't available then I just do my best to make sane food choices and eat in moderation. I avoid rich sauces, fatty fried foods, things that are excessively sweet, etc.

You will find some good approximations for Indian food, though. Beware of naan... a full-sized naan is north of 500 (mostly empty) calories.

Thanks everyone for the help, I was able to use the food finder and find equivalents to the food I had last night at the Indian food restaurant, If the approximation was correct then I did pretty well considering I didn't eat the entire meal and saved half of it for my lunch today so I wouldn't have to eat the fast food that I do because of where I work.
