I usually microwave mine. I'll put it in a shallow dish, add salted water and microwave for 10 minutes - check it and then another 5-10 mins as needed. I find that you have to steam it to get it to a good consistency. I'll then add butter or spaghetti sauce. I love the stuff -- but then again I love most squash.

I used to do the same as losin, but recently learned to halve it, wrap each completely in Saran wrap and microwave starting at 10 mins and checking it every few after that. No extra dishes needed! The sealed saran wrap basically makes it steam itself!
Sauces with cottage cheese or Greek yogurt make it creamy and I always add veggies and chicken. Yum!

I micro steam mine, too, and then serve it just like spaghetti with sauce and cheese. Or bacon and egg. Or mushroom and cheese.

I grew up on it, my Mom would boil it for 20 minutes then cut it open, clean out the seeds and use a fork to scrape out the "spaghetti" or she would use a shallow pan and cut it in half steam to bottom, scrape out the seeds, place it cut side down in a little EVOO and a little salt and bake it...once cooled down a bit she'd scrape the "spaghetti" into a colander to drain out any excess liquid...we would use pesto to red gravy (sauce) on it or just butter, parm and basil.

I just bake mine for 1 1/2 hours. Then scrape and add laughing cow cheese, or garlic and oregano, or even butter with cinnamon and splenda for a sweet treat. Skies the limit - you can do anything with it. Pesto or salsa sound like something I might try next. I love spaghetti squash, or pretty much any type of squash. Can't wait for summer squash!

You can Micro it whole if you poke a few knife slits in it first. That way it will not burst. I think this is easier because cutting it in half with a knife can be dangerous.
Should be ready in 10 mins. Let it sit for 5 mins. ( it cooks more this way without getting soggy. Than cut in half and shred with fork.
I an on Atkins so I mix in a little butter. But it is great with just meat sauce or clam sauce.

Not sure where you are in the UK, but I have seen spaghetti squash in Waitrose in London. You can ask the manager what time of year they would have them most often. I think it's a seasonal thing there.

i cut mine in half, take out the seeds then place it in a shallow microwavable bowl upside down with just a little water to steam it. then cover it with plastic wrap...leave a small hole open in corner for some steam to escape. place it in the micorwave for 5-10 minutes depending on size of squash. when its done i use a spaghetti spoon to scrape out the squash, put it in a bowl and prepare it like spaghetti. turns out great. i found adding a little salsa and organic spaghetti sauce is really good. the salsa gives it a little kick.

I stab some holes in the squash, then microwave it for about 8 min, turn it over and microwave for about another 8 min. I wait for it to cool down, halve it and scrape out the seeds. You lose some squash this way, but I hate cutting squash. I often serve it with marinara sauce and some LightLife Smart tenders for fake meatballs.

I cut mine in halve and lay them cut side down on a cookie sheet. Comes out perfect every time!

Funny! I just had this for dinner yesterday and for lunch today.
Although, I have to warn y'all -- it's very fibrous.
