Help! does anyone know what amount of fiber you are supose to get daily? On a 1000 cal diet, if that makes any difference...

It's on the order of 25-30 grams per day for a 2500 calorie per day diet. If you're really at 1000 (and you probably shouldn't be) I would say that something like 15 grams.

I'd like to know how fiber aids weight loss?

Fiber aids in weight loss by keeping you full and therefore you eat fewer calories. At the end of the day it's calories in-calories out.

1.4 grams of fiber to 100 calories is a pretty standard range. Also...I would never recommend (without proper doctor approval) anything less than 1200 cals/day for women, 1500 for men.

Fiber has many benefits- helps keep your cholesterol down, keeps you feeling fuller, aids in good bowel health. The more fiber, the better. I always have >50 gms/day, but often reach as high as 100 gm. Honestly don't see where it keeps me feeling full, but definitely has kept my cholesterol in check and my bowels going - that and all the water and exercise. For heart health it is recommended to have at least 25 gm/day.

I have a nutritionist, and she advises that I maintain 1200-1300 calories per day, with fiber being 25-35 grams per day.

If you are eating fewer calories then they suggest make sure to take a multi vitamin. There are many kinds and brands of vitamins so do your research before you take any, and keep in mind not to take to much or you could get sick. I personally use a multi vitamin with Iron, its gluten free and meant to be used as a dietary supplement.
