I've always been told that jogging/running helps up your metabolism, which helps with weight loss. It's aerobic, so helps strengthen cardiovascular system. Yoga is typically for stretching and toning, not so much for losing weight...although the more you move the more fat/calories you burn, obviously. Also, there are many types of yoga, some give a much deeper workout than others.

If you want to go this route, I would suggest looking into DDPYoga. The foundation of the program is that you're engaging your muscles as you go from position to position, which makes your heart rate go into your fat burning zone. Check out this video for an example of how this works http://youtu.be/5OZfd9jrb7w

Yoga is good for core stability. This will support you better for jogging and allow for better jogging form and going further. Big misconception that yoga is just for stretching as there are a vast array of different forms and the majority will get your heart pumping but in a controlled manner. Give it a try Smile
