I've always been told that jogging/running helps up your metabolism, which helps with weight loss. It's aerobic, so helps strengthen cardiovascular system. Yoga is typically for stretching and toning, not so much for losing weight...although the more you move the more fat/calories you burn, obviously. Also, there are many types of yoga, some give a much deeper workout than others.
