So I sweat a lot at the gym (just my genetic make up I guess?) and some people just ignore me but others look disgusted. I always wear deodorant (can't say the same for a few of the so called "non-sweaters"Wink and I always wipe everything down with the disinfectant spray after I'm done. There is no way I'm going to decrease the intensities of my workout since I want to loose weight but what can I do to make people stop staring/ how to stop sweating so much? And are people actually appalled by people that sweat a lot at the gym or are they just in awe at the sheer force of power besides them?

Im gonna go with Awe... I never used to sweat when i first started, but as i got more fit, and worked harder i noticed i started sweating more and more and quicker as time went on. Now, if im not completely soaked hair dripping - i feel like I could have worked harder. Go get your sweat on, F those other fakers!

I'm with Sarah on this. You do what you gotta do, as long as you clean up and wipe down. If you work less than you, joke's on them. Smile

Do not let them worry you, you are at the gym to do just that, sweat, part and parcel of the environment.

+1 to all above comments.

Living in hot, humid Fla, I grew up thinking sweating is normal. My Minnesota bred-wife can't stand sweating , even at the gym! Consequently, I handle ALL outside chores!

I sweat profusely. When I get off an upright bike at my gym there is literally a puddle of sweat on the floor and my shirt is soaked. Don't worry about it.

On the plus side most people won't get on the bike that I ride.

Just joined, so I hope it's okay to respond-The gym is one place where sweating, sometimes profusely, should be considered absolutely normal. If you feel people are staring, stare back at them! Serious gym rats rarely notice anything that anyone else is doing, and if they've got time to stare at you then they probably aren't working hard enough to make it worth being there. You've stated you're cleaning the area you've used so you should be fine.

Good for you Anna, your working out hard! I wish I worked out that hard every morning.....as long as you wipe down the equipment when your done, I would have no problem with it at all. Who cares what other people think!
