I love asics brand!
God grant me the serenity

courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

I used Asics for a long time and just switched to Brooks within the last year. I think both are great brands to try out!

I love my Asics, but Mazuno's are my absolute favorite! Worth every penny!

I am big proponent of the vibram five fingers that I bought. It may take a few runs to get used to them for your calves and such but once your body gets used to the lack of padding they feel great.

Happy Birthday Zoo!
I got some Asics too and fine with them.
But I think about vibram ... got the Sorrento for testing normal walking... maybee later some for running.

@Turtle: Is the difference between the norming running style really that much?

In my opinion there is. I have a friend who is 6' 5" and always had joint issues when he ran over 3 miles. I convinced him to try a minimalist shoe, he happened to go with vibram as well, and after his calves adjusted he no longer has joint pains and did a full 9 miler with me last saturday. A good read on humans and running is a book called "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall, it changed my attitude towards running and it's now one of my favorite parts of my day.

I would have to second turtledrummer, as I am now a full flegded VFF (Vibram Five Finger) advocate. I suffer from intense shin splints. With the VFFs, no more. Took me about 2-3 weeks to really train my legs, calves, and feet to adjust, but I will never wear another shoe. Check out this great article:

I am soo happy to have the support. I am excited! Anyone here is vegan (I am) and would like to share meal plan for the next 12 weeks? Also, what other activities are you doing besides running?

Weightlifting is a staple of my life. I like mixing it up, trying new lifts, the whole thing is much more entertaining then running. I'm also an avid biker in the non-snowy months.
