No problem on the 'eating' front - never have been a fan ((sorry GSA's everywhere!)) I just buy them because that's what we do, we buy the cookies. Then I spend the next few months giving them away ((as I usually order 1/2 a dozen of each variety)). I consider them the 'spring' version of the FFA fruitcakes sold at Christmas: buy & regift.
What I DON'T like is the fact that the 'Dad' always comes by selling them and the 'Mom' always drops them off.
It's been 10 years since I actually saw a real GIRL SCOUT.
Do they actually exist? Or is this just a scheme??
I'm putting my foot down next year. At $4 a box... I wanna see the sash. Prove to me there is a real scout behind the thin mints!

I suggest you investigate donating the money directly to the Girl Scouts. The fact is they only get a tiny percent of the money which is spent on cookies.

Haha - working in a school definitely helps me see the "real" girl scouts! A little redheaded 4th grader came to my room before school this year. Who am I to say no??
But I also like eating them... Naughty...
I think some parents are doing their children a disservice by 'taking over' their fundraising. There's something to be said for teaching your kids how to get out there and be personable and make their own profits! I know it's nice to help out the kids, but for Pete's sake - some of the kids in my school are selling raffle tickets right now and all they did was immediately hand them off to their parents!!
Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is
not
that day.

Has anyone actually read the girl scout cookie labels?? The *NEW* ones deemed healthy are the worst ones - high in calories fat carbs etc... I just stay away from them all together. Good point about donating to Girl Scouts directly.

@Ekath - good idea thank you. I used to hate saying 'no 'to those sweet little faces but as I just see their parents it will be easier.

I used to buy Girl Scout cookies just because also but then I saw an article where they destroyed 13,000 boxes of unsold cookies somewhere in CA. I can't support any organization that greedy and wasteful.
Pain is a by-product of a good time.

I'm not really concerned about carbs for my own diet, I was just responding to yankgal's request for different ways to add fruit back into her diet. Yankgal is in my buddies so I see her posts. ...
