When you are at your locker doing what ever you need to do and you need to bend over......please point your butt to the locker.

One day (many years ago) I was sitting on the bench putting on my shoes. I just glance up and here is this 70 year old very heavy man bent over with is butt sticking right at me.

I honestly couldn't go back to the gym for several weeks. I just couldn't get myself to do it.

One more from me.

If you are a woman and you decide to wear a something extremely tight and skimpy to the gym so it is plainly obvious that you want to draw attention to your body, don't look at a guy like he is disgusting if he happens to look your way. I am a very happily married man. BUT, I am also human. I am going to notice a woman walking by me in a thong and skin tight cloths with boobs hanging out.

Interesting comment. I don't usually wear thongs to the gym, but I do wear tight clothes because I don't feel comfortable exercising in baggy pants and a parachute t-shirt. Being well endowed, I would need a parachute t-shirt to make my absolutely natural treasures go unnoticed when I exercise. I also want to feel good going to the gym, so I do not buy ugly gym clothes either. Still I do it all for myself, not to attract unwanted attention to my body. It is pretty sexist to tell women that they have to dress in a certain way in order not to attract unwanted attention. I do not wear skimpy clothes to the office, but I have to be able to wear comfortable clothes to the gym or to the beach. These are the places where it is appropriate to show some skin, wether I have a perfect body or not. May be we should turn it around and have another rule for guys: don't assume we are interested in you, do anything to attract your attention, and do not stare. It is plain rude.

Rule:
If you're only going to be walking slower than 2.5mph on a level surface you don't need a treadmill! Go mosey up and down the hallway. Leave machines to people running (or at least power walking) or doing hills.
If there are multiple cardio machines available, please don't hop on the one directly beside me.
And why guys, when you cut the sleeves off your t-shirts why must you rip open the entire sides, leaving what is basically a small poncho? I can see your armpits, ribs, stomach & all the way to the waistband of your shorts.

Jess I am with you on the slow/flat walkers on the treadmill..but I know I shouldn't feel like that. Just drives me crazy when treadmills are at a premium and someone is walking at 2.5 for like 3 hours.

Ah the slow walkers on treadmill.... This is tough, because I know and accept that we all have different fitness levels and some people just can't do more than that for various reasons. Knowing that doesn't keep me from getting so irritated when they chat on the phone, stay well beyond the time limit when people are waiting, don't clean off machines. Heck I just get so irritated having to get off after a 30 minute run and wait in line again so maybe I just project my anger toward the slow walkers. But please DON'T HOLD ON you are wasting your time and burning way less calories!

I'm reviving this thread because I think it's hilarious, and I'm adding this:

Rule #279 (or something): When you're on the treadmill and you're feeling bored, please do this, especially if you're at my gym -

OMG I have a great one: Wear deodorant!!!! No one wants to die from your excessive BO. Also Don't douse yourself with perfume!!! And if you smoke I would prefer not to smell it. Seriously I experienced all of these odors yesterday at the gym. I almost chucked up my cookies (aka threw up). YUCK!!! Some people are so disgusting. And I think it's okay if people sweat a lot at the gym as long as they aren't sweating on me, they clean up/wipe down equipment afterwards, and THEY DO NOT SMELL!.

Still laughing and sooooo glad I have my equipment at home. No one has to worry about me working out in my pj's or wearing my flannel robe for during warmup, I have my own shower, and on days when my back is hurting I don't have to worry about the fact that I'm only doing 3mph on my treadmill. I may have to try some of the bunny hop stuff from Erika's Utube post -- that was hilarious. Marking so that anytime I feel I'm missing out on not joining a gym I'll come back here and remember all of the perils listed!

You forgot:

Don't wear make up to work out. If you are wearing makeup you weren't planning on sweating and you are taking up valuable equipment that can be used people trying to get / stay fit.

I take exception on the makeup.. If I workout after work or really anytime after8am, I will have makeup on regardless. I just prefer not to leave the house without makeup. Call me vain if you like, I have rosacia. I will sweat and maybe some of my makeup will sweat off, but my foundation stays in place for the most part (I pay extra for that feature Smile

I agree with you, Ncnole - I am most often going to the gym right from work or some other activity where I already had makeup on. I'm not going to take the time to go wash off all my makeup before I workout when I'm just going to sweat some of it off anyway. Just because someone has makeup on at the gym doesn't mean they put it on FOR the gym or that they don't plan on sweating...
