I agree that the RDI is too high. The only way I could see to get around that was to check off "sedentary" for excercise even though I'm moderately active. That took my RDI down to a level I've researched is in keeping with losing weight for me.

The RDI calculated is based on a calculation and which was in turn based on the measurements taken from several thousand volunteers... Unfortunately people more likely to be overweight will also be more likely to be towards the lower end of the range.

So it's unsurprising it's going to be a bit high for many people on here.

However you can set your RDI yourself on fatsecret.com (you used to be able to do this in the mirror's but I can't find it on fatsecret.co.uk now) by clicking "My fatsecret" then "my Diet" then "Edit your RDI" let it calculate it, then change the number in the box, and hit save.

Down from 60" waist jeans since June 21st 2012.

Still keeping to my 26" jeans, but they are too tight for comfort. too many tasty things in the US, and over Xmas.

Hiya Ironketten.I've just made that same change to get my RDI down. Glad I'm not alone! Almost never ate 100% of the calculated calorie count and was still not losing much weight, so I've changed to 'sedentary' and that has reduced RDI to a more reasonable 1600

Why can't I loose weight faster
The above answers are quite right. However, for me, the answer is that it is just damn hard to lose weight. The answer lies in large quantities of Time, Patience, and Honesty. I bet you have them, good ...

Heart Rate Monitor Watches for Men
I have a polar RCX5. Very expensive but works great. Espcially for helping you train in fat burning mode and for estimating calories burnt. You need a chest strap though. Great gift idea.
