I agree that the RDI is too high. The only way I could see to get around that was to check off "sedentary" for excercise even though I'm moderately active. That took my RDI down to a level I've researched is in keeping with losing weight for me.

So it's unsurprising it's going to be a bit high for many people on here.

However you can set your RDI yourself on fatsecret.com (you used to be able to do this in the mirror's but I can't find it on fatsecret.co.uk now) by clicking "My fatsecret" then "my Diet" then "Edit your RDI" let it calculate it, then change the number in the box, and hit save.

Still keeping to my 26" jeans, but they are too tight for comfort. too many tasty things in the US, and over Xmas.

Hiya Ironketten.I've just made that same change to get my RDI down. Glad I'm not alone! Almost never ate 100% of the calculated calorie count and was still not losing much weight, so I've changed to 'sedentary' and that has reduced RDI to a more reasonable 1600

WHY THE SCALES LIE
I read that you're somewhere around 60% more likely to keep your weight in check if you weigh daily, but then again 90% of all statistical percentages are made up on the spot. (I just made that up.)

A Diff. Kind of "Scale"
I'd agree with Deb. I'd take a few every couple of weeks. In most cases you're likely looking at a month at least to 'see' the progress.
