It is a friendly site but perhaps not in the way you need it to be. This CAN be a social place but there is so much information on it and so many places to go -- so not many people actually interact personally, one on one. Every now and then, you do find a friend.
For example, I replied to you because you commented to my post about Lyn-Genet's Plan, so I clicked on your profile and found your post about the site being unfriendly and I don't want you to feel like this is an unfriendly site. It's always there -- when you need it.

I have a couple dozen "buddies" on here that I interact with through journals on a somewhat daily basis, and at least weekly. It just takes some time to get out there in the forums and journals to meet other people that use the site like you do.
If you don't put yourself out there, people won't find you, and then it can be a pretty solitary site.
Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is
not
that day.

I suspect you are making posts under topics and forums - which are not sent to the community at large - try using the "journal" feature instead! Your journals will show up and more people will see it! Welcome to FS.
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

DEFINATELY a friendly site.... But as Erica and Ukrainian said.... You have to journal and be patient.... After all...In The "real" world we do not make bosom buddies immediately, it is the same with FS... Patience, conversing with people, making comments on other peoples journals, and generally "putting yourself out there", will get you some good buddies. I have been on this site for nearly 2 years, and have some great buddies.... Some long term, some short term... Some disappear - never to be seen again. Some go away, and then return. Just like in real life...... Welcomes FS

Everybody doesn't hang out on the forum. If you post something personal on the forum that might normally go in a journal, it may not get any response.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
You can use shakes for a few days. I have used the Atkins shakes and they are very good tasting. Soups are good though as stated above you may have to puree them. You could puree or blend cottage cheese ...
