Atkins day 4

I've done Atkins several times and lost each time until I get talked into eating pizza. yesterday was a hard one for some reason the 3rd day is always the hardest. This is it if I fail this time I will be going to have bariatric surgery. I'm very optimistic this Time

What was that little voice in your mind saying to you as it was giving you permission to essentially abandon a diet that might save your life? There are serious consequences to bariatric surgery, and in fact hardly anyone reaches their target weight and maintains it.

If you are ready to casually cheat on a diet on day 3, perhaps it is the wrong diet for you.

I know 2 people who had the surgery and both are overweight today and have many health issues as a result. You don't want to go down that road.

I urge you to commit to yourself that even if you fall off the wagon to get back on it. But I agree with eKatherine, if you are already cheating, maybe this isn't the diet for you. Maybe try to ease into permanently changing the way you eat one meal at a time (replace bad foods with a few good, add a few more veggies instead of refined carbs), move every day. Feed yourself good fats, good foods, fiber, stuff that fills you. What ever you do, don't go low calorie, low fat! And avoid any such diet that makes you start cold turkey with a completely different eating pattern, it would be hard for me to maintain and I'm a fairly disciplined person. Good luck and don't give up whether you stay with this way of eating of find a new way!

Try making your own Atkins version of pizza if it something you like and crave. I make mine using those large mushrooms as my base and then add low carb pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese. To be honest I don't miss the crust. Think of creative ways to eat your favorite foods. It doesn't have to be drudgery.

One day is not a failure. One meal is not a failure. One bite: not a failure. Each time you put a food in your hands, it's an opportunity to choose. If you choose well, Hooray! If you don't, you have another opportunity. You cannot allow yourself to be a failure because you had a misstep. Learn from it, and move on. We all have bad days.

Though I agree with the above about the restrictions perhaps getting the best of you. Find a lifestyle that fits who you are. For me, it's denying myself nothing, as long as I'm accountable for it in my daily intake and using exercise as the great equalizer. That works for me, but not for everyone.

Find something you can LIVE with, not put up with for a while.

I love these statements because they are absolutely true.

As to the OP: Declining a dining invitation in the early stage of this journey is not the end of the world! You can ALWAYS go out with friends, coworkers, or family at a later point, when you're comfortable making the appropriate choices at a restaurant. Sometimes, at ANY point in the journey, being faced with temptations is just more than we can handle right then, so the best choice is to decline the invitation.

I, too, LOVE pizza. I made a conscious choice when I began, to allow myself a pizza at an event about 10 months away - IF I stayed on plan until then. Was it difficult? At times, yes. But I made that "date" far enough in the future that it likely wouldn't pull me completely off plan at that time.

Now, however, I actually enjoy a low-carb pizza as much as one with a typical crust PLUS I know exactly what ingredients have been used to make it.

Atkins is a plan that you need to work consistently for best results. Stay the course; believe that you are worth this effort. Good luck.

I found this recipe when I was looking for a Cauliflower Mashed recipe. I haven't tried it yet but plan on it this weekend. It is for Cauliflower pizza crust.

On Day 4 of Atkins, my husband wanted to go out for pizza. So, rather than stay home and avoid "life's challenges," we went out. I ate all the toppings (cheese, meat veggies) and and ice tea. I was surprised that all the toppings filled me up (it was a large pizza). It was fine - even w/o the crust. Don't let the pizza be the reason you fail. Just eat what you can.

Go ahead! I recommend you to cut sugar, fructose, and almidon. Combined with gym activity, you will be fine.
