Hi everyone. I'm new to this. Thinking about starting Zumba and thought I might like doing the Wii version. Anyone doing it and having success?

I have the first version, and I think it's TERRIBLE. Absolutely godawful. I don't know if Zumba Fitness II is better than the first version - I sure hope so.
The routines are fine, so if you go into it with the understanding that the user interface is really awkward and and with no expectation that your movements will be recognized correctly, then it can be a good workout, but it's basically the same as watching a workout video that's yelling at you for being off the whole time. Read the online reviews; it is really terrible at tracking your movements and giving you credit for performing them correctly.
The XBox Kinect version is *slightly* better, but still pretty bad, imo.
I would just get DVDs...

I haven't tried the wii or DVDs, but I have taken the Zumba classes at the gym and really really liked them! It is the most fun workout I've ever done.
But then, I think my positive opinion is all about the teacher, and the energy in the room. We have this sassy, Colombian teacher who dances for the fun of it - and it makes the experience awesome.
It is the first time I've ever looked forward to a workout, because it is just dancing for an hour.
I am curious about the dvds now - I will be eager to know how it works out. =)

I'm not a big fan of the Zumba for Wii either - definitely can see that it would be super frustrating for those starting out, because like jhttfn said, it doesn't track your movements very well at all.
I've never tried the Zumba DVDs, but I do have a Zumba video playlist on youtube - my absolute favorite instructor that I've found is "zumbamaniacz" - here's one of her videos/routines that I love:

Other than that, I would really encourage real-life Zumba classes at the gym - there are a couple instructors at my local Y that I just love! It's so fun!
Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is
not
that day.

I posted a comment and it said it was pending review. I guess it never made it :-/ I have the second one. I like it but the belt goes crazy when you're dancing. No way to keep it in place. I'd try to move towards the kinect if an option.

Swollen ankles???
Asparagus?!?!?!?!? Good to know, we have a HUGE asparagus patch in our back yard. Even though I am overweight, I have always had small ankles. Very weird!
