When I am eating healthy I seemed to get scared of hi cal carby foods and end up not eating very much. I don't eat meat but do eat fish. I eat a lot of salad, not bread or potatoes, sometimes fish if I have money but it doesn't add up to enough calories per day. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I feel like if I start eating anything 'bad' ill just put all the weight back on straight away

Carb Cycling is a low/no-carbohydrate diet with intermittent periods of high or moderate carbohydrate consumption; essentially you are cycling your carbs to achieve a desired result. Most people have the misconception that consuming low carbs on a day to day basis for long periods of time is good for them. The main problem with low-carb diets is that they are meant as temporary diets; they deplete your energy and strength and are not the best method when attempting to lose body fat and retain muscle. You cannot eat that way forever. Your body needs carbs for daily functions.
Carb cycling works by giving your body the fuel it needs to increase your metabolism and create a calorie deficit to increase fat loss. Days are rotated between high-carb days and low/moderate-carb days and in some cases no carb days.
There are typically three types of days when carb cycling- Notice some will not go “NO carbs” but instead follow a low to moderate and then high rotation.
High Carb
Low/moderate Carb
No/low Carb Days
Generally, if you do three days the three days are rotated, or cycled, equally, but there are many ways people set up a carb cycle. You can also do low/high or low moderate high.

sky92 - I am/was the same way too. I also gave up carbs then noticed I would have days I would binge on carbs out of control. Like for instance, I ate probably 7 cups of pasta and a half a loaf of bread on two separate occasions... I guess I am a carb cycler too like Jamie mentioned and I didn't even know it. It's working for me. Are you exercising a lot? I found exercising increases my hunger but I say don't eat if you are not hungry... even if you have low calorie totals on some days... because you might have not so good days then everything balances out... so dont worry about it

Your body doesn't actually need much carbs at all. What it needs is energy. The energy calories may be either carbs or fat. You've got to have one or the other, or you will have no energy.
Some people do better on a high carb low fat diet, some on a low carb high fat diet, and many balance somewhere in between.

Thanks guys its good to know that others have experienced this too I guess if I up the excercise then I can't get soo worried about calorie/carb content within reason. I have a very busy life and want to motivate myself to get up for early morning runs as that'd help. Thanks again!

I'm not really concerned about carbs for my own diet, I was just responding to yankgal's request for different ways to add fruit back into her diet. Yankgal is in my buddies so I see her posts. ...
