soooo today I did what I consider my first real work out since I started. It wasnt much compared to others but it was a lot for me. I did 30 minutes cardio and then 15 minutes of stretching out of the upper body and I am sore now. Not complaining by all means, just need some words of support because I am in pain, lol. UP until now I have been doing 20 minutes (once) and then just some working out here at home here and there. I am glad I took the plunge but feeling the pain. Need to get motivated to work out M-F during my lunch since we have a gym here at the apts I live in and I work from home.

Everybody's different! Don't let anybody else's workouts make you feel like yours are inferior. It's a step in the right direction, and that's what counts! It's great that you did a good chunk of stretching after your cardio, but remember to stretch that lower body too! What part of you is the most sore?
I would say that anyone who dives into a workout program for the first time (even a "regular exerciser" that took a break for a few weeks) is going to experience some muscle soreness. As long as it's just soreness and not "actual pain," it should go away in 24-48 hours - keep up the good work!
Just remember, if you keep going, the soreness will subside and you can keep working out. If you stop, you will just have to go through the soreness all over again when you decide to start again.
Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is
not
that day.

One thing I've noticed (especially when trying something new or harder) is that when I work hard today, in 2 days I'm going to be pretty sore. But if I do about 1/2 the workout tomorrow, that 2nd day is soooo much better.

thanks newnormal. My mini goal for the week is to hit the cardio 30 min a day in lunch and so some good stretches in the evening after work, one day at a time. I put my mini weights near my desk as a reminder of how I need to get off my butt and get out there. I will then go back to the yoga on the weekends. Thanks for the pep talk !!

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
