Low Carb Tummy Trouble

Anyone have any helpful input for low carb tummy troubles? I dont have the atins flu but have the tummy troubles. No need to go into details but lets say I hate public bathrooms and had to use one. Any words of wisdom?

I find that certain types of fat give me diarrhea, so I have to limit my intake, while other people have no such issues even if they consume unlimited fat.

thanks eKatherine! I've only had butter and avocado which is what I eat all the time anyway. I cant help to think that water might have something to do with it?? I drank about 2/3 of a gallon ( i literally bought a gallon to carry around all day since I work from home) and about 1/2 today. Before this I was drinking about a glass or two a day. I have been off atkins for about a yr and gained all my weight back. Not sure it that has anything to do with it. Maybe the added fiber in my diet? but wouldnt it take longer than 2 days?

It could be too much artificial sweeteners and/or sugar alcohols. They can cause intestinal distress. I'd suggest ditching the Atkins bars and use stevia as a sweetener.

THANKS Mike, I will pick up stevia today. i have been using sweet n low only because I have a ton in the pantry. lol. today not so bad as yesterday. Gonna hang around the house other than a short trip to grocery store two blocks away. Is this a sign its working ???

No problem. Also remember that the Atkins diet recommends no more than the equivalent of 2 packets of sweeteners per day.

I bet each one has the equivalent of one sweet n low per serving. I havent bought any bars or shakes yet, as I am on my 3rd day. After this I dont plan to. Mike, what kind of stevia do you use? I usually buy truvia. What's your input regarding truvia? If not, what do you use and can I buy it at the local grocery store. I have done atkins before but welcome new opinions and ideas. Plus its been awhile. PS, tummy still ify today but not as bad as yesterday. THANSK

When I was doing Atkins I used a lot of Stevia but as I heard more and more things about it the less I stopped using it. I eventually settled on bouncing between Truvia and SweetLeaf. SweetLeaf was a bit more expensive. From what I've read the best stevia to buy is either in liquid form or green powder/granules. I've never come across the green stuff and the liquid stuff was exorbitantly expensive.

Since I don't do Atkins anymore I use raw honey, maple syrup (grade B), and occasionally unrefined sugar as my main sweeteners.

I have found herbal aloe to be a FANTASTIC help. I still use stevia & am on a high protein diet. I put a scoop of the aloe in my morning shake and then i take a shot (3 caps full) later in the day. When I get sick of the bland water I put a shot of mango flavored aloe into my water for a nice taste with zero calories. Smile

I have a Tanita as well. I find the fluctuations frustrating as well, though I can see PMS ramping up lol. Its nice to have it as a reference point but I am only tracking the body fat every other week ...

My experience is that when I add a modest "fat" in the morning - usually an egg and a teaspoon of butter... I'm good all day with holding to smaller portions, and I seem to see more results. ...
