I think there should be a section for those who have over 100lb to lose, partly because our problems are completely different from those who only have a few lbs to lose, and partly for continuity and longevity. By which I mean, we'll be there for each other for a year or more, long after others have lost their 10 or 20lbs and left the site.
How can I make such a section?

You are very right and it can be sometimes overlooked by people. The principles of weight loss might be the same but the psychological side can be very different and therefore the support needs to be very positive and structured to help without adverse negativity. I would suggest contacting the site with the request and/or trying to keep this thread alive fir others so ut doesn't slip off the first page. Good luck

I lost 170 lbs. I can honestly say I never felt the last lbs to be significantlty harder than the first ones. It's all a matter of setting smaller goals on the way, and be aware of the fact that you won't finish overnight.
The PLUS side to being super obese to begin with is that you don't have to throw yourself into a 1200 calories-per-day diet. You can ease in with a pretty large calorie intake, and then slowly lower it as you lose weight. Remember that you only need 500-1000 calories deficit per day to efficiently lose weight. Use that to your advantage.
Enjoy the ride - losing weight from being super obese to being "normal" weight is the best thing you can EVER do to yourself.

There is a groups section on the site, there might be groups for people looking to lose over 100 lbs already, if not you can create your own group and get people to join so everyone can encourage each other

This is a community where you pick your involvement. There are plenty of sub-groups for the tubbies like me trying to lose 100lbs.

Wow I am so thrilled to get some replies. I found the 100 group and have joined. I only looked at this site for the first time today and want to find where the active members hang out. I looked at a few profiles of very big people but was disappointed to find they haven't posted anything in years... I think I could be a very committed and active member of this site. x

There are many 100+ groups here but you're right - some are not very active. I belong to several and sent you a buddy request so please feel free to check my groups under my profile.
I want to offer a thought to consider but as no one has ever accused me of being too graceful I apologize in advance if the following reads with anything less than understanding and compassion.
From my own experience here I suggest making friends with people of all weights and at varying phases in reaching their goals.
Dismissing members here with current posted goals of losing only 5-10-20lbs may result in missing some really wonderfully inspiring members.
Many people here set their goals smaller so they don't feel bogged down by a huge number or have, as my buddy Keld above has done, started at a high weight and struggled and worked hard to be where they are now with their health & sanity in place.
They have all been great role models for me. I am still far from goal but the members trying to lose 10lbs have been just as supportive and inspiring as those trying to lose 100+.
They are helping me to learn to focus on smaller weight issues by taking each day one day, one bite at a time so that I hopefully won't ever find myself back in the 100+ category again. If you read my bio you'll note this is my fifth and hopefully last needed attempt at a massive weight loss.
Also, you mentioned being concerned about members being here for the long haul. Many of the members here posting a goal of 10-20lbs to lose have been here for years and show up every day to log their food, weigh in, share experiences and encourage each other.
Wishing you the best. Stay in touch and take care of you.

I definitely agree with bella, take all the support you can get. It will only help you stay motivated for the long haul, many people come and go for sure but the shared experiences or advice you get from them, you'll always get to keep. We all share the common bond of having issues with diet and/or exercise in some form or another and tips and tricks from people at all stages in their weight loss help us know it's possible to get there and what to expect when you do, because eventually you'll be that woman with 10 or 20 pounds to go.

Well I am looking to lose 110kg/242pounds.
I will join your group if you start one.
Start weight 20/04/2013 = 240kg Goal weight 120kg (total loss 120kg)
It won't happen over night, but if you don't give up it WILL happen.

I have about 70 lbs to lose but I only made my goal to lose 20 so that I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed. I'm basically playing mindgames with myself. It's a new approach I've never tried before and I'm hoping it works on me!! I figure if I lose the 20, then I'll start over again, and again hopefully.

Bella, thank you for mentioning me. What makes you think I have my sanity in place, though? LOL.

Paronical --- there is already a 100 group on here. Please find it and join, and I will see you on there!
I am about 240 pounds overweight, too, so we can help one another by buddying-up.

Fullabella and friends.
I didn't mean I would not read postings by people who post on the forum and don't have much weight to lose. I mean I don't want to buddy-up with people who start dieting weighing 100lb and want to be 90lb, but it does not really matter if they fall off the wagon a thousand times because they are leading fine, happy, active lives just as they are and it matters not one whit in the scheme of things whether they lose or not. I've been a member of other forums where such dilletantes buddy me then suddenly disappear without warning, cos they lost their 10lb or they just lost interest in dieting.
My situation is life-threatening, and it is long term. I prefer to have buddies who are in it for the long haul, like I am.
It's kinda like someone disabled in a wheelchair preferring to buddy others in a similar situation, rather than people who have simply sprained an ankle and will be outta that wheelchair in 2 weeks.

I hope one day to be in a position to advise others. As I am a serial failed dieter I don't expect anyone to listen to anything I say ... except maybe when I am holding forth on how easy it is to fall off a wagon!
