. I've been yoyo dieting for a lot of my life, but last year I reached to be almost 160 pounds! ( I am 5'6". For the past year I've been gradually losing weight. At first my ultimate goal weight was 135. I made it! And it only took a day until I started to feel fat again. So I made a new goal weight of 130. Then another of 125. Now I am 122 pounds and STILL I feel horrible. My new goal weight is 110 but lord knows if I ever get there I'll still be unhappy. I just want to know if anyone else has this problem? I just want to be happy with my body and live normally, this weight stuff is so consuming and I'm scared I'm headed down a really bad path.

The problem isn't that you are fat, the problem is that you perceive yourself as fat no matter how thin you are. What is your bodyfat percent? Get it checked if you have not already. If you are within the healthy range and you are not happy with your appearance, the problem won't be solved with more dieting.

I was fat at 286 (I'm 5'11"Wink Even when I got to my low of 170 I thought I was fat (still kinda was flabby in places) Now at 190, I think 170 looks skinny! lol. I guess I don't know what I'll feel if I ever get back to 170, but I understand the never being content with how you look.

How about looking at pictures. They sometimes show you what you really look like. The one thing I've noticed is that the extra skin can make you feel heavier. I guess that just takes getting used to.

I started out at 168.1 and am 5 ft 5.5 inches. I was the same as you, I set my goal weight around 135, didn't like how I looked & I still felt horrible, so I kept downing my goal weight. I am now around 107.4 which varies to 110.2. I feel so much more energized now & I feel better about myself. I have more self-confidence now & don't mind wearing some of the new styles. I have looked back at pictures of myself when I was bigger & I can't believe I let it get that far out of control. I started weight watches back in June & I still keep up with my points, daily intake of food & daily weigh ins. it has become a part of me now. You have to do what makes you feel better about yourself and not worry about what over people say. If you aren't happy with your weight, get it where you are. You can & will be happy with your weight....I thought just as you, but now I am very happy & healthy. Goodluck with whatever decision you make & most of all....BE HAPPY & CONTEND!

Go see your doctor or a professional or talk to a friend. Tell them what is on your mind - they may already be worrying about you, they should be able to reassure you that you are fine as you are.

If you are worried that if you get to your new goal weight you still won't be happy, then you probably won't be - it doesn't seem like it is your body that is the problem. Your mind seems to be hanging onto those extra lbs still.

Your BMI is the low end of healthy. 110 (yeah, yeah, I know BMI isn't everything) is underweight.

Take some measurements, look at the numbers. Think about the clothes you buy - how small a dress size are you wearing right now? Cos guess what, if you can fit into a small size chances are....you are small!

Perhaps members think I am overreacting but the fact that you are worried about not being satisfied just screams alarm bells at me.

Take care - please get in touch if you think that would be of use to you

I agree with Psy. 122 for your height is a good weight.

However, you could be what is called Skinny Fat. That means you don't have any muscle tone under your skin. You may not have much body fat, but you may not have much muscle either.

Get your body fat and muscle tone measured. If you are working out, add some light weight lifting 3 times a week. After 6 weeks, you will begin to see some definition in your muscles and I think you will be a lot happier with your body image.

Good luck and please be careful with losing too much weight. It can be very dangerous.

I have often lost my mind, but never my imagination.
