I have been over weight for a long time.I am trying to be a good mom and wife. But fear keeps getting in my way, so I continue to battle my weight everyday. If I lose my weight what will people say? will they still talk to me and treat me the same way? will I lose the friends that I have? will they be jelous because I am fit? I heard once when your thin people notice you more and more my question is what was wrong with me before? oh yeah I have a pretty face and a personality to match, but now my whole package you think is a catch? will I be able to maintain all the weight that I have lost? will losing my weight be worth the cost? the cost of having to do all the things that I never could before? I cannot hide behinde my weight anymore.Working out and eating right seems like a chore. To answer the question is it worth it? yes it is.I will say it quick. No matter if I am treated differently by my friends and family I will do it all again.I want my kids to grow up with thier mom.I want them to think that I am the bomb.It does'nt matter about the whole world, it only matters about my little girls. To be successful is a big fear.So all the fears I have will be set aside so I can live life to the fullest with my kids.It will be an awsome ride....

So many doubts to be had.
I have weighed twice of what I do today. I have stared death in the eyes - not in form of heart attacks or wrestling bears for that matter, but a slow, ungraceful death from obesity.
Is it worth losing weight? HELL YEAH! Trust me, my life has never ever been grander. I can do the things I dreams of. People take me much more serious when I talk. I can move without huffing and puffing. I can pick things up from the floor! I could find 1000 reasons, but you don't wanna read through them all (and some would be very intimate and personal). But trust me, please, don't let the doubt stop you when the going gets tough. Keep going. Be tough. It's 120% worth it- and then some.

From October 4th 2010 to April 3rd 2012 I lost half my body weight - 80 kilos/170 lbs. Since then, I have had two cosmetic surgeries to remove excess skin. I have now quadrupled my strength, gained several kilos in muscle mass, and today I focus on building muscle, optimizing my diet, and living healthy. I am stronger, healthier, thinner, happier!

You are an inspiration. Don't fear what others will think. A true friend will stick around forever! Your kids will look up to you more because of what you have done. Keep going, you can do it, and share your secrets, Whatever you are doing is working!

Shar,I can only answer, that you must make the decision to lose weight, because you want to look better and feel better, and not because of what your friends/family will say, think, think of you, react to you.
I decided to lose weight, because I felt that the extra weight made me look older, I couldn't get into my cute clothes, nor did I look forward to getting dressed in the morning or to go out at night, my sugar/cholestrol were up, and because my extra 30 lbs made me feel out of breath when I ran or climbed stairs.
If people have a problem with that or me, its their problem.
Also, I got only compliments, and didn't feel that anyone was jealous.
On the contrary, almost everyone (who is middle aged anyway) is trying to lose weight and it can really be an inspiration for them, as others' weight loss has always inspired me to get on with it.
PS My grown kids are much happier and relieved by my weight loss.
Kids really don't want an overweight mom.

Sooner or later people will stop noticing how much weight you lost
but you will be healthy.......that is THE main thing

Not much of a friend if they stop talking to you because you got trim

I honestly can't see why the answer could be anything other than YES. Hmm I find it hard to understand why people would treat you different, true friends wouldn't and family most certainly shouldn't. All the bestSmile

I like Dr. Phil's advice paraphrased from his dad that "You wouldn't worry so much about what people think of you if you knew how seldom they do". Just get healthy for yourself and your family. If anyone is jealous of that they need to grow.

I already pitched in on this thread many moons ago. I still cannot stress it enough - it is TOTALLY worth it. I have literally never been feeling better through my entire life, and so many things are following behind. Better jobs, more money, higher life quality - SO MUCH.

I've backslid after my holiday a little. But YES it's worth it. I just need to get myself going back in the right direction.

42" jeans(25/01/2013) 40"(28/02/2013) 38"(20/03/2013) 36"(25/05/2013)
Down from 60" waist jeans since June 21st 2012.

Still keeping to my 26" jeans, but they are too tight for comfort. too many tasty things in the US, and over Xmas.

Onwards and Downwards! Smile
