I'm interested to hear from women who've experienced urethra pain WITHOUT an infection appearing in urine sample. I have pain right at the pee tube exit and sometimes shooting pain into my bladder. Some days it's better but others not. This has been going on for 2 months now. I don't think it's diet related. I've been checked twice for infection and there's nothing there. What the heck? I'm 47 years old, just started menopause, and have tried all kinds of things that supposed to help, like cranberry juice, cranberry drops, supplements, coconut water etc. About the only thing that has helped my symptoms is direct application of tea tree oil but it burns a bit and I don't know if it's just masking the problem or actually helping it.

I really would check back with your doctor. They should be able to give you a prescription even if you don't test positive - obviously something is not right if you continue to have discomfort. You do not want it to get worse b/c that can create more problems like a kidney infection. Azostandard ( I think is the name) is an OTC medication that can get rid of the symptoms but turns your pee orange. I think the cranberry and staying hydrated are more for prevention and won't do much if you are experiencing symptoms.

Found out that mild estrogen replacement, via vaginal suppository 2x week took away the problem. Being in menopause causes walls of bladder and vag to atrophy, get dry and irritated. The hormone replacement is localized and brings moisture back. I've had no problems since!!!

Progesterone also replenishes the moisture in that area. It's not recommended to use one or the other without getting medical advice. Proper labs will determine what you're lacking, then the doc should be able to prescribe something. Might want to find a doc who does natural methods vs synthetic. Beware of excess estrogen. There should be a balance, not excess of one or the other. You don't want excess estrogen's. They're a weight loss blocker amongst other things.

Remember that this is not an all or nothing proposition. Changing a lifetime of eating habits will not happen overnight. Aim for 80%, any thing over that, is fabulous.
