I fully accept that this product may not exist (yet). I have found that planning dinners in advance helps me stay on track, and I'm looking to improve my current system and expand to planning breakfasts and lunches, too. Currently I am using a rudimentary white board system in the kitchen. On the board, I write the days of the week, the dinner for each day, and the prep that needs to be done for the next days meal (soak beans, etc). We also keep the running grocery list up there. It works but it could be better. If I'm at the store and my BF isn't home to read me the list off the board, I'm screwed. So, I'm looking for a software/website/app that:
1: allows me to schedule a week of meals (breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks) in advance
2: suggests recipes but allows me to input my own or copy and paste from other sources
3: (very important and have not found this yet) tabulates the nutritional info for the meal
4: allows me to input my kitchen inventory and suggests recipes based on what i have
5: creates a shopping list based on what I plan to make for a week (most of the apps I've looked at have this)
I wish the FS app did this but it definitely doesn't! Anyone have ideas/products/strategies they use to make this work?

I just did a search in the app market on my Android and it found a few different ones.
1 is called Meal Bank. It let's you add recipes plan your weekly meals then adds things you'll need to a shopping list
So sounds like it is what you are looking for. If you have a smart phone just do a search for a meal planner app

Good question, my son has been using FS Food Diary and now we're trying to generate grocery list from it. If you have loaded your meals into food diary is there way to have FS produce grocery list?

Try Famoo
http://www.myfamoo.com
. It's got a recipe manager, meal planner, shopping list creator as well as some other handy tools. I was able to download it quickly and tried it out on my tablet - works really well and the interface is really beautiful!
It's marketed as 'family management software' and we have it running regularly in our kitchen. Highly recommend it.

Famoo doesn't work with a phone. Otherwise it looked pretty good. FS really should develop a planner as part of this site and app. Being organised is a huge part of healthy eating. In the meantime I am going to keep looking for something that fits all my needs.

Found this app on Android called My Food - Grocery Planner. It works pretty well. Let's you plan meals and then makes a grocery shopping list from the planned meals. The only thing it don't have is the nutritional info. Can't have the best of both worlds. But I suppose you can couple this app with the FS app and voila, you got your answer. Hope this helps.

Hey all,
There is another site - calorieking.com.au where you can forward enter your meals for the week & you can then generate your shopping list from it.
Its very similar to fatsecret (a little better/easier to use) BUT its only got Aussie brands so it probably wont suit a lot of people.
However, if you are making from scratch I would suggest joining & using it as its really handy!

I use pepperplate.com it is a website, with an app for your phone, and tablet. I end up with a shopping list on my phone and just walk around the store ticking things off.
The issue for you (given your wish list) is that it doesn't tabulate calories. I use fatsecret to work out the calories/nutritional data, and pepperplate to store my recipes, plan my meals, and my shopping lists. I love it, and have put a bunch of friends onto it, but it doesn't do everything you're after I'm afraid. I've searched for this mythical app also, and the solution I've come up with (fatsecret combined with Pepperplate) isn't perfect, but it does work, and I do really love the pepperplate app.
