I avoid anything with Aspartame. Too many side effects.

My logic when I started losing weight was this:
I can drink diet soda. Sure, there may be harmful things in there, but they keep me happy, they keep me wanting to continue losing weight. The tiny bit of chemicals in the soda are not killing me. Weighing twice the weight I'm supposed to is killing me. What's more important?
Over the course of my weight loss journey I have simply weened off the sodas. They do nothing for me any longer and I would much rather have a nice, clean, cold glass of water. Anytime.

To all my posting buddies, I so much appreciate all of your suggestions, comments, and recommendations. I have been off soda 90% of the time, every now and then I enjoy a treat. I have climbed the mountain and I think I am feeling great.. YOU ARE ALL GREAT MOTIVATORS.

as usual there is a lot of confusion in these articles with plain BS like when they claim that insulin spikes prevent fat burning and promote fat storage, which is simply said just unsubstantiated rubbish and the fact that the effect of sugars on hunger control might be negative.
I have not read any scientifically sound argument about it, but it sounds logic that the brain processes the signals given by sugar subs similarly to sugars therefore triggering similar reactions in terms of hunger.

Only you can answer that. If you're drinking one a day and it's not causing you any problems, then don't worry about it.
As with many things, the poison is in the dose. Drinking one serving (and that's 8 ounces, not 32 or 64) probably won't do you much harm. Sucking it down incessantly has a much higher likelihood of causing problems.
Personally, I've never understood how anyone can stand the stuff... I find it to be about the vilest thing that I've ever tasted. (OK, it's no natto or Malort, but it's close.) It seems to be an acquired taste, and if you stop drinking it for a few weeks you'll probably find that you don't even like it anymore.

My doctor says that soda of any kind, be it diet or otherwise, changes the pH in our systems and needs to be avoided. He has been on the Ideal Protein program and is helping me with my own weight loss. I've been drinking diet sodas for 40+ years (Tab being the first) and I too crave it. I allow myself one cheat day per week and a Diet Coke is allowed on that day. What a treat! But you know what? I find it very difficult on my stomach now and a 20 oz. bottle can last me a whole day where it used to be I drank several a day. Why not try to get your soda intake to once per week then see how you feel? I think you'll be amazed at the difference.

The body knows. When its fooled it will then store what calories it can in the way of fat. There have been studies. Also there was a study that showed higher rates of certain cancers in women who drank diet drinks. Stick with natural and.organic foods.
