In my experience, Wii Fit is good for "light" exercise. If you're a complete couch potato it's a good way to get started, but it's not a full fitness regimen.

I agree with Hoser... it depends on your exercise level. It is a "light" workout but it does depend on how hard you work at it and how often.
In the end, nothing is a waste of money, IF you use it!

I decided against the Wii Fit and went for the Just Dance games on Wii instead. It has sweat points that it keeps track of for you and makes it fun! I will either dance for 40 minutes to an hour or do some weight training between every song for a full body work out. Sometimes I look at the clock and I'm shocked I've worked out for an hour and a half!

I also agree with Hoser on the Wii Fit--it is more of a light workout. When I first started using it, it helped because I was, as tmhiggins said, a couch potato. However, when I hit my plateau I think it was because I had become active enough that it was no longer challenging me. I then switched to Wii Biggest Loser and am loving it! When I do the workout, I always notice a difference afterwards, and, if you put an effort into it, will work up a good sweat.

My opinion is that if it will get you up and going more than you are now then it's worth it. My mom is not an active person at all, but she enjoys the Wii Fit and it's helped her lose weight. Because of her work schedule, age, weight, and some arthritis issues it works well for her because it's a light workout. If your looking for a more intense workout you might try something else first, like buy a $5-$10 workout DVD that will get you moving. Also, if you have an Xbox too my hubby bought a kinect for the Xbox and the games on that get pretty physical. The kids and I are always sweating and out of breath when we're done with games like Kinect Sports, Rabbids or Just Dance. Good luck with your decision!

Anyone using the Fitbit Flex or similar devices?
I have a bodymedia fit and love it. It really helps keep you motivated and focused. It does allow you to sync with a heart rate monitor, but I find it has been a good tool regardless.
