Today I noticed I had gained a tiny bit of weight and I felt a little discouraged. I almost didn't workout because of it but decided to stick to my exercise routine. Glad I did.

Your weight varies a lot hour to day, day to day.

I can have a weight swing of nearly 10 lb/day depending on how hydrated I am, when the last time I ate and/or used the restroom, how much salt I've eaten, when I was last at the gym, etc.

Also, after exercising your muscles will tend to retain water (moreso if you aren't exercising regularly!) as it's necessary to help them recover from use. Once you establish a routine everything will work out.

It's impossible to gain real weight from exercising with a calorie deficit -- don't be discouraged. You can replace fat with muscle (in small amounts) doing that but you'll always have a net loss of weight.

The only way to gain weight from exercise is if you are exercising and maintaining a calorie surplus (i.e. you're body building).

You're doing great -- keep it up. Drink LOTS of water and that will help your body recover from exercise.
