How Do You Stay Motivated?

What motivates me is when I hover my mouse over my icon and the little thing pops up and it has a number beside "Lost so far". Seeing what I've lost so far motivates me to lose more!

im generally competetive at everything i try, it doesnt matter if its playing fifa on my PS3 or playing outside with my friends.
no matter what it is, i want to win.
so i go week to week month to month, and battle with the scale.
if i dont loose anything, hes hitting me, if i do loose weight, im showing him who the boss is.

if i dont loose weight, im just a little bit dissapointed but that turns into/makes me pissed off and come back even harder next week or month.

The way I stay motivated is by thinking about all of the older people I know who have not eaten well and exercised over the course of their lifetimes. A lot of them are on 10 different medications, have diabetes or have had multiple joints replaced (i.e. knees and hips). I do not want this to happen to me, so whenever I start to slide off track I think of the people that I know who have many health problems related to their weight and that is what keeps me going. I refuse to give up and become another statistic.

I think of my grandma. She was obese, diabetic, had horrible arthritis so she was wheelchair bound, and she died in her 60's. I am already getting arthritis in my knees so I really want to fight my family history of diabetes and obesity. Watching her struggle when I was younger really hit me as an adult when I was told they could see osteoarthritis starting in my knees. My motivation comes when my knees are hurting and I want to give up because I know that eating healthier now and exercising will help me when I get older. I don't want my kids and grandkids watch me suffer and I want to be around for them as long as I can.
Goals for 2014:
Complete Couch to 5K- DONE!!!
Sign up for and complete a 5K- DONE!! 35 mins.
Plan at least 3 outings with the family that involve being active- 2 done

Fat Secret keeps me honest and I see what I'm eating. Can't say I'm motivated for exercise, all I can really do is walk, nice weather is a good motivation for that. And I think about the size I want to be ( in my case was), and I've set myself up little rewards when I reach a certain goal. Like a salon day at 10 pounds lost, something like that.

School was painful for me because I was overweight and picked on or singled out because I was fat. I don't want my boys to struggle with that. I want them to be healthy and confident. When I find myself wanting to eat something I shouldn't I think is it worth it? Are the calories really worth the exercise it's gonna take to burn it off? Most of the time that's enough....

I give away my fat clothes as soon as they are big on me. I also kept my favorite dress from when I was a healthy weight so I get inspired to fit into it again.
A friend of mine pasted a picture of herself on the fridge in a bikini from when she was thin, she says it helps her keep goals in mind.
Another friend did this with a really HORRIBLE picture from when she was her heaviest, she says it keeps the hunger away.
I'm thinking of doing both but keeping the pictures in my wallet for when I go out with friends so I won't cheat.

Less important which one is accurate, just pick one to use as the 'official weight tracking scale.' That way you will not have to worry or remember which one you use to determine your weight at ...
