So....I'm curious if anyone has had any time of weird or unique dreams while they are losing weight. Last time I lost weight I had a couple, but nothing noticeable. This time I've lost about half as much weight as last time, but every night I have weird dreams and I wondered if anyone thought this could be due to hormone changes or what everyone's input is. Question Very Happy

My doctor told me mine are probably caused from stressing about losing weight. As a matter of fact, I just had a dream the othe night that I gained 7 lbs & was freaking out about it. Which I'm sure is because I'm stressed about my weight loss stalling. It has slowed down quite a bit during the last 2 weeks. But I'm trying to be patient. Smile

I also notice when I'm exercising every day, I have very active dreams. I think its your body not able to relax because its repairing itself, so your mind keeps going. I do love that tired from hard work feeling though.

I dream a lot at times when I lose weight. I don't think it's because of stress, as I feel very positive about the whole thing. One possibility I have considered is that it's a detox symptom. As your body detoxes so does your mind, or so I've been told Smile

The other night I dreamed I had 6-pack abs. LOL I was very depressed when I woke up. Last night I woke up and I was doing "eliptical motions" with my legs. Glad today is "off" day from the gym! lol

As a super-geek I always go with the science: The reason for vivid dreaming while losing eight can be explained by biology - it has to do with neurotransmitters (the stuff that transfer messages between neurons) and blood sugar level.

First, serotonin and endorphins are two neurotransmitters that are involved in dreaming, and increase with higher physical activity (and when youre losing weight more chances your working out more).

Secondy, blood sugar level, I have just recently learned, is also involved with vivid dreaming; One of the side effects of hypoglycemia (commonly known as low-blood-sugar) is vivid dreaming. And when we are losing weight, we have lower than usualy bloog sugar level (especially at night).

I have had more than a coincidental number of dreams related to dieting since I started Atkins. In one I recall vividly I remember being absolutely FURIOUS at a waitress who guaranteed me that this new soda they came up with (which tasted like the real thing) was "low-carb". BUT it knocked me right out of Ketosis. And then when I went back to chew her out someone smashed in my car window and stole my laptop. Honestly I was more ticked off about the soda than the stupid laptop Razz
