I'm glad you got so many supportive responses. If you want someone who will just be there for you, that's me. Losing weight can be hard. I'm pretty much on my own, too. No close family or friends to support me. I just try to stay true to my own heart. In this case, that means reaching out to you. Hang in there.

I'm alone in this too. I have workout buddies I see on a weekly (mostly) basis, but the eating right part is killer for me.

The decisions we make in our nutritional choices (sorry not a fan of the word Diet) are yours and mine alone. But the inspiration to continue to follow that path is available here by people who are working on similar goals.

Don't give up on your husband, he may not be in need of the same goals in this part of your life, but try to get him to understand your need for support.

As many others have said, your not alone. I'm doing this solo also. I'm a single mom of two kids and my oldest who is 17 has the exact opposite problems from mine. She has been diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. It's sort of a strange dynamic around the house. For a long time, I felt guilty eating in front of my daughter because it made her uncomfortable so I hid it. I also on some kind of subconscious level ate in excess as if it were a tug of war with HER anorexia. It's complicated, but no, your not alone.

One thing that helped me was listening to The Self Compassion Diet CDs on my ipod; good meditation & such. My roommate wants to lose weight & get fit, but she works too much at a job laden with problems, has problems with her family, etc. I feel like she's jealous of my dedication and success(as slow as it is). She bought me a bunch of chocolate for Easter, which I've eaten little of, but totally enjoyed what I did. I think she's frustrated when she see's me entering food on my android when we're at a MLS game or wherever. I love being connected with FS, and am enjoying reading threads like this! Thanks, everyone, for being here for each other.

The past month I've been a SAHM and am loving it! No one to look at me funny when all I want is a handful of spinach, or a spoonful of peanut butter. Grams has backed off too since I'm on the right track. Its onlye taken 5 months for her to chill Smile

I think it's FANTASTIC that you want to become a fitness instructor! Go for it. Are there classes that you can take? Can you take classes at the local community college, perhaps something to do with physical therapy might work? I don't know, just throwing out there, maybe you would find a physical friend that way. Maybe you could contact something like 24 hour fitness and ask what they recommend. In the mean time I'd say get an online buddy, can't hurt, and will help. Buddy me, don't have one right now. Also I have a lot of respect for your attitude towards your husband, marriage takes work and it takes 110% from both people, and if he won't help or change you have to find it in yourself and not blame him, and love what he does give you, as long as he's a good man. BTW, I'm non religious and worked in a traditional man's job most of my life, so I'm not spouting dogma. Married for 28 years here, so yeah! I know! BEST of luck to you.
