I am new to this site and am having difficulty understanding logging exercise and what kcal means next to each exercise. Can anyone explain? Thx!

If you're American, a kcal is what you call a Calorie.

If you eat 1500 Calories in a day but burn 2000, then you have a 500-Calorie deficit. Do that seven times and you lose a pound. (Insert some handwaving, because it's not quite as simple as that, but that's the principle.)

1 calorie (small c) is the energy required to raise one gram of water one degree C.

1 Calorie (big c) is 1,000 calories (small c).

Food calories are "big c" which is why sometimes you see food calories referenced as kcals.

wow, that's lots of c's!
