I would LOVE to figure out like a 2 - 4 week meal plans. As in plan what I would be eating for a whole month (if possible) so that way I could buy exactly what I needed from the store and knew exactly what to plan out each day for meals. Anyone know of anything I could do? Maybe like a menu of things I could choose from or something similar I could build my own with maybe? THANKS!!!
I just started doing this. I saw my cousin John who was around my weight or so (300+) loose a lot of weight. He told me he used this app among other things. It hit me when he posted some photos from when he started to NOW. He wore the same pants size (46) and is now a 32... Kind of hit home for me. Its going to be a struggle but im doing a LOT of research first, what to eat, how to eat, etc. I have some what bad knees so exercise is harder on me but I want to try and get myself eating right and better FIRST.

You could just make a table in a word document.
Put Sun-Saturday at the top, then Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks off to the left and fill in boxes for each day. Come up with several different options and then plug them in. You may have to come up with some meal ideas and see how they fit into your overall plan as far as calories are concerned.

I would recommend starting smaller. I do this on a weekly basis, and it works out really well for me. I usually work out a menu and shopping list on Saturdays. On Sunday I go grocery shopping, and then do any big-batch cooking that I need to do for the week.
If you search the forums for "shopping cart porn" you'll see that I posted about last weekend's shopping trip and cooking.

The spread sheet is a great idea and I agree with Hoser. I do my food shopping on Sunday for all my fresh products and spend a couple hours cooking my heart out. I split things into grab and go bowls or baggies so its easy picking in the morning. Also by cooking ahead i can eat a different meat everyday or at different times so I am not bored of what I am eating (boredom makes me stray)! Good luck!!

Great ideas! I do a week at a time since we only have a very small fridge and microwave in truck, also I leave my Saturdays and Sundays with no menu planned so I can experiment with restaurants and post the great values and foods I find and where. We travel big rig across America and some states have places others don't plus I do not want to burn out on eating the same things every week and like to switch it up to please not only my tummy but my pallet. ANOTHER plus to weekly planning is that your fruits and vegetables stay fresh! Good Luck on your journey and feel free to message me anytime I find great, healthy, affordable foods all across the land....eating right should never leave you broke!
I didn't get fat over night so I don't expect to get healthy that way either.

Here are two sites that might be useful for you. Eating seasonally means fresher and usually cheaper produce.
Seasonal eating resource
Another seasonal eating resource
Also if you need recipe ideas, check out the recipes on this site. I also like
Allrecipes
and
Yummly
(This one gives you the ability to screen results by ingredient, nutritional information, and other dietary restrictions, among other criteria.)
I agree with Hoser that weekly is good to start with. Good luck.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
You can use shakes for a few days. I have used the Atkins shakes and they are very good tasting. Soups are good though as stated above you may have to puree them. You could puree or blend cottage cheese ...
