I figured out what it feels like to be a grown up!

I've made it a point to try them every few years, just to be sure it wasn't just the mushy, nasty, overcooked, canned vegetables of my childhood getting to me, but I never really liked them.

On NYE last year I was out to dinner at a pretty excellent restaurant with one of the boyfriends, and he ordered a brussels sprouts dish. "If anyone can cook them in a way that you'll like, it's (name of chef)." I tried them. Much to my amazement, they were edible. No, they were actually good. I've since learned to cook them in a way that I like (similar to this), and I have to be careful not to eat them all in one sitting.

Brussels sprouts are food. Who knew?

Turnips fell a long time ago, when I accidentally ate a turnip cake while having dim sum. "This is good. What is it?" "Turnip cake." "Oh. Hrmmm." If the people around me had listened carefully, they could have heard my worldview shifting ever so slightly.

I declared that tonight would be cauliflower adventure night. I picked up a head on the way home, and made Roasted Garlic Cauliflower. Not only was it edible, but I had a second helping. I take this as proof positive that you can put olive oil, good Italian cheese, cracked pepper, and sea salt on just about anything and make it taste good.

So now I'm eating turnips, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower... this must be what it feels like to be a grownup.

Good for you! So many people say they don't like something and never give it another try! It took me forever to try fresh blueberries because I hated the strong smell of blueberries (like on Strawberry Shortcake's friend Blueberry Muffin! lol); however, I would eat blueberry muffins. I finally tried fresh berries and I loved them!
