If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you have to change your eating habits for good. That means you have to deal with social eating for the rest of your life, not just for the next couple of months. You have to learn to eat relatively healthy during the party, but nobody enjoys the company of a person who spend half of the evening explaining the details of her diet plan to others. Some people find that it helps to eat something before going out. It does not work for me, I still eat as much at the party. Try to drink more water, and stick to the vegetables as much as you can. Enjoy the party and get back to your healthy lifestyle next day.

Eat before you go, and learn two really important words: no, thank you. I never eat dessert, regardless of the social pressure.

i totally indulge on parties with mindful eating still though. I always reserve sometime for the occasional binge aka parties. People have become scared of food which is no good. Eat and enjoy. Eat mindfully, be conscious of every bite. Not only will you enjoy food more and eat less. Drink tons of water dont waste your calories on drinks. Exercise a ton before the party so there is at least some deficit that day.
