Maybe back off the protein. Looks like you are at the top of your recommended. Also, maybe don't eat as much sugar free jello, b/c it still does have "sugar" in it. Don't eat the atkins bars b/c of the sugar alcohols in them. Try the shakes if you want a treat. Drink lots of water. Good Luck!

You also need to eat more veggies between 12-15 nc worth.

Is there any reason you are keeping your net carbs so low? If you are in OWL phase your net carbs should be higher and I've got to agree with veghead you are not eating enough foundation vegetables.

It makes me laugh to think that I eat more veggies now that I am on a lower carb WOE then I did with my old ways. There are lots of yummy veggie recipes out there.

In OWL you gradually up your NC’s each week in 5 carb increments starting at 25nc with either veggies, seeds or nuts. Then each week add another 5 NC following the Carb Ladder. The objective is to see how many carbs you can eat and still lose weight while keeping cravings under control.

Katburt you are so right I had to stop eating the Atkins bars and stop drinking diet soda, with the bars I stopped losing weight and the soda was like liquid candy.

I found this list on another site (can’t remember which one). Hope this helps.

Low Carb Mistakes

1. Getting off on the wrong foot.
2. Giving up too quickly.
3. Not eating enough vegetables.
4. Not getting enough fiber.
5. Lack of planning.
6. Getting into a rut.
7. Be wary of Low Carb replacement bars.
8. Not exercising.
9. Eating too much.
10. Carb Creep.

Glowstix you are totally right and congrats for being almost to your goal.

Maylane I was looking at your food journal and there are days when you are getting way too much fat and not enough protein or veggie carbs.

Theanorth and Maylane if you don't already have the book you might want to purchase it(maybe the library has it)or go to the Atkins website it is full of info and best of all it's FREE! Smile

Vicolisted I also eat more veggies then I used to lol, had to train myself that the Jalepeno Poppers from Jack in the Box are not healthy, good, but not healthy.

Hi. I haven't read all the replies so apologies if I am repeating. Your fat intake seems high. I believe it should be a maximum of approx 50-60 g per day.

Adding to what everyone else saw
1. Yes you can eat too much on Atkins
2. You need to eat between 12-15 Net carbs of foundation veggies, so basically everyone meal, and snack has a good cup to 2 cups of veggies, 3.with that you may use healthy fats and butter in normal moderation
3a. Protein with each meal is about 4-6oz try to keep it clean and lean
4. Keep your calories around 1700-2000 not more
5. drink water all day long
6. 3 artificial sugars all day, the one in diet soda counts, or any other Sugar Free type product.
7. Start fresh so you understand this is a new way of eating and it works- although slowly for some, like myself.
8. use F.S. to keep yourself on track and to check in with others who are in the same boat (and it really is not sinking)

Remember Atkins is a high fat diet, so don't cut down too much. Should be about 60-70% fat, 20-30% protein and 5-10% carbs.

hi, please don't take this up the wrong way, but I had a look at your diet calendar (and don't really know the atkins diet that well), but I'm just wondering, why so much fat? try replacing the pork rinds with veg, are you doing any exercise? Do you drink any water? I've noticed with my own diet that the RDI given (I had to take off at least 600cal off that - before I start losing anything), I'm trying to keep cal burnt quite high too - keep that green arrow showing up.. Smile Note: should burn more than what you take in... just an opinion.. I hope I helped a bit.. Smile

Hi Licratonic the fat helps with a sense of satiety, makes food taste better and keeps the body burning primarily fat for fuel(IDK for sure about the latter two but I know that the fat helps keep me full).

Theanorth and Maylane were eating too much fat. Basic guidlines for fat includes using enough oil to coat the bottom of a pan for saute'ing, using a little oil for salads(oil and vinegar), and getting fat from sources such as cheese, butter, avocado, eggs, nuts and seeds etc. Which I don't think is really out of whack. With Atkins a person can eat pork rinds because the pork rinds are low carb. The pork rinds can be eaten as a snack or crunched up and used in place of breadcrumbs.

Theanorth and Maylane also were not eating enough veggies. A person on Atkins starts the diet eating no more then 15 netcarbs worth of vegetables for example we swap out the higher carb veggies such as peas, carrots and corn for the lower carb asperagus, zucchini and mushrooms. According to the Atkin's site it comes out to six cups of salad and two cups of veggies per day. As a person on Atkins progresses through the 'diet' they will add more carbs a little at a time till they find how many carbs can be eatten without having food cravings or stop loosing weight. Atkins highly recommends drinking water and exercising they just might not be adding it into their excersize or food log.

I hope this helps you understand the method to the madness and I also have to eat lower than my RDI about 300 calories less in order to lose.Smile

You might want to try increasing your veggies. Your fiber is far too low. Aim for a minimum of 20 grams. 25 to 30 grams a day is recomended.

Your fat intake is also a tad high. 60% should be max at this point.

You may also want to max your calorie intake to 1800 a day for a week.

Try all three of these tips for a complete week and see what the scale says.

Atkins is a high fat diet; the recommended ratios are 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs. Too many carbs results in fat gain. Too much protein means the body turns the excess into glucose, which again results in fat gain. Your fat intake seems nearly spot on at 69% but I would definitely add more fibre which will help you feel full alongside the fat. Your calorie intake seems perfectly fine too as it averages out to 1800.

You could be more metabolically resistant than your husband or it might just be water retention. Unless you've been stalled for more than six weeks I wouldn't worry too much, just keep doing what you're doing.

Pretty hard to get 20 - 30 grams of fiber from an assortment of veggies at only 5%. The ratio that is best is 60% fat 30% protein 10% net carbs.

If you want to get more bang for your buck out of your metabolism, you should try and eat every 3 to 4 hours with some protein at each meal. There are many supplements that aid the body in destroying fat as well. Look into the bebefits of vit B100 complex, vit D, calcium, vit C, omega 3
