I have been putting cream in my coffee, but usually have 3 - 4 coffees a day. I really want an alternative to milk or half and half that tastes good and creamy. Any ideas or things you've tried?

Heavy whipping cream. You can use that on Atkins!
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

And it doesn't take as much to make it taste creamy!

Actually Kate, it is very Atkins friendly, the only reason I don't use it is because hubby is allergic to almonds (they cause severe anaphalactic shock), and since he is blind, I am worried he would get hold of it by accident and that could be disastrous. Thanks for the reminder about it, I always forget to mention it. Smile

I love my unsweetened almond milk! I've never been one to drink glasses of milk, and I avoid cereal because I'm a low-carber. But the almond milk is a great substitue as creamer and in cooking. It has that milk creaminess and color...magical.

I've been trying the almond milk in my coffee lately, not sure if I'm crazy about it yet. Heavy cream is too, well - HEAVY, & the almond milk is too light. Even if I use a lot, like 1/4 c for 2 c of coffee. I have also used sugar free caramel CoffeeMate, which was pretty good & has 2g net carbs per serving, or the liquid French Vanilla version which only has 1g nc per serving.

Wow, such great ideas! I tried yesterday to mix the Atkins shake into my coffee and found it too vitaminy, then tried using half cream and half sugar free coconut milk. It wasn't too bad actually. Will try some almond milk in the future. I am really trying not to buy tons of food and substitute food shopping with eating - and then have tons of spoiled food cuz I couldn't eat it all.

I was just reading prevention magazine and it recommended Almond milk in coffee. It said soy milk can curdle, where the almond milk adds a nice flavor and texture.I haven't been shopping yet to try it though.

I like the liquid sugar-free vanilla coffeemate or heavy cream, sometimes a little of both.

My favorite discovery is fat free half and half - which sounds very contradictory, right? I've decided it's half skim milk and half MAGIC Very Happy

It's creamy and has that thick and silky mouthfeel like cream, but no fat at all. Land O'Lakes and (no kidding) Great Value from Wal*Mart are my two favorite brands. A little bit whitens quite nicely, and it's got to be better for you than that non-dairy powdered crap that I used to use!

I am also a huge fan of Silk PureCoconut coconut milk - but know that it does taste nicely of coconuts; if you don't enjoy that, then it won't be for you. It is rich and creamy and silky and just really really nice. Not just in coffee - my kids love to mix it 50/50 with vanilla almond milk over cereal!

Sorry, just realized you're doing Atkins and fat is not of huge concern for you!
