Hi Everyone! I have been hearing about this P90x program and I was wondering what is it? How often do you do it?

It's a physical program that mixes cardio, weights and some yoga/martial arts moves (in a cardio fashion).
You will need a pullup bar and some weights or rubber bands.
You are supposed to workout 6 days a week and get 1 free day for 90 days (thus the 90 in P90X).
Its pretty intense so you should checkout if you are fit enough.
Good luck!

FF is correct with regards to frequency, equipment etc. It is intense - when I started I could not complete all moves or had to modify some, but that improved over the 90 days. You can see a sample of the DVDs here:
http://www.beachbody.com/product/p90x-what-you-get.do
I also did a similar type of program called Chalean Extreme - she also had 3 days of weights and if I remember correctly she had one of the participants on each dvd that did a modified lower impact move It also recommended weights or bands

P90X is a good program but it does take dedication. Each segment of the training takes about an hour to complete except the yoga and the kenpo x and those take about 90 min each. I started the program last summer but had to quit when I had to have surgery but I want to strat over and do the program again this year. it is really cold outside now adn my pullup bar is in the garage so I have to wait for warmer weather for do pull ups but the yogaand the other exercises are good pretty much anyplace you have a tv and the room to stretch. The ab ripper x component I love to hate or hate to love. This program really does work tho!! good luck!!

Thank you for all of the input! Is it worth the $? It looks like it is about $140. I currently strength train 3 days a week with about 7 other people (Lifetime Advanced Fitness) and personal train 1 day a week. It is over the weekends that I find I don't get to the gym to workout. I would like to shake things up abit with my training.

P90X is super intense and not for beginners...however there is still the power 90 available on the beachbody.com website which is Tony Horton's original tape. Same idea, 6 times a week rest on Sunday, however there are only 2 tapes to each phase (2 phases) you rotate back and fourth between cardio and weight training. The workouts are between 30 and 45 minutes long. did it a few years ago and lost 14 lbs in 6 weeks...but my body was tighter than ever..it's a great way to transition into the p90x I think.

See if your local library has it, or maybe borrow it from a friend to check it out before you invest. For me, it was a great thing and really gave good results but it's not for everyone.

Hi Darbo! I'm an Indepdent BeachBody Coach, so I can help you out if you like. P90X is SUPER intense, and takes some serious dedication. If you're looking more for something to just do on weekends, I would recommend the Insanity Fast and Furious DVD. It's a 45 minute Insanity workout jammed into 20 minutes. Personally I prefer Insanity because it uses just your body weight, instead of using equipment.
Feel free to contact me if you want any more info!

My 2 cents. If you are currently working out with weights and are only looking for the weekend workout it probably isn't for you - If you wanted to try an alternative 3 day weight workout (with overall muscle improvement vs serious muscle growth) it is a good workout.
For a good weekend or 60 day type program I would say get Insanity it is an intense plyometric/cardio workout - I did the 60 day program, am currently using it for the cardio portion of P90X, and plan to continue to use it for the cardio with more conventional weight training --- to slow typing Music beat me

I love P90X, but now that I'm using Fatsecret, I wish they would include the workouts in the activities list. Not sure what else compares, 4 hours of running at 10MPH

According to the P90X nutrition guide, each workout is about 600 calories burned.

I'm an independent Beachbody Coach and have completed P90X, INSANITY, Body Gospel, Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire and just about every other Beachbody workout. I'd be happy to offer an advice you may want.

Anyone using the Fitbit Flex or similar devices?
I have a bodymedia fit and love it. It really helps keep you motivated and focused. It does allow you to sync with a heart rate monitor, but I find it has been a good tool regardless.
