I'm crazy about rice but I know it has too much calories as well as carb so white rice is out.
There are; Brown Rice, Purple Rice, Red Cargo Rice, Quinoa
I'm looking for something with the least calories and carb per serving.
Any rice or rice substitution expert in here could give me a lesson in rice will be much appreciate.
Sorry but cauliflower is out of the question its just not the same.
Thanks!!!!

You are right, all rice is loaded with calories. What you've gotta do is make the most of those calories. I love potatoes so I'm stuck there
Quinoa is one of the healthiest grains you can eat. It is a lot of calories but there is so much nutritional value I didn't mind eating a large portion. Someone posted the recipe for a cucumber quinoa salad. I really enjoyed it. I didn't put as much EVOO as it called for and I added chopped tomato and feta cheese to the leftovers. Here's the link

Hi, im a rice lover too and i make meself a nice rice meal that only contains 375 calories. (dont know about the carbs but i do not think its over the top. What you need is: 400 gr brown rice, 500 gr. mixed vegetables (chinese style), 350 gr. of porc (non fat) or chickenbreast (no skin), chinese seasoning and soy sauce.
Cook the rice. Stirfry your meat with 1 tbsp chinese stiroil untill done and add the soysauce (2 tbsp) and cook this till the soysauce colours your meat. Than add the chinese seasoning and the vegetables and stirfry this untill the vegetables are bite cooked. Add the cooked rice and fry all of it together for a short time. When you take 300 gr of this chinese rice meal it is about 375 calories. Very nice with a boiled egg (80 calories) and 25 grams of satehsauce (peanutsauce) 82 calories and a half serving of gherkin (3 calories) or some pickles and you have a wonderfull meal. Its a total of 540 calories. Not a bad choice for a eveningmeal. The rest of the day you can than count your carb intake and you will be fine. Hope my dutch english can be followed hahahaha

I use rice as a garnish to my veggies instead of as a main staple of the meal. Dumping a 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup into whatever veg I'm eating works great. I get the flavor of the rice and it really bulks up my meal. If you are changing your habits for life, you need to figure out ways to incorporate your favorite foods into your new lifestyle or once you're off the diet and begin to eat your favorite foods again, you may fail and gain the weight back.
Good luck!

I love rice as well! I would rather have my rice once a month or so and stay within my calorie range then to give it up. Man just seems like the food choices get smaller and smaller! I was on Atkins, but I can't keep up the diet, and that diet really turned me off to beef and pork!

I'm crazy about pizza, and chili dogs. if you want it, eat it, the choice is yours. no there isn't an easy choice, changing the way you look at food and experience it is part journey. you'll get it as you go along and figure out what works/doesn't for you. everyone is different.

I'm Filipino. I eat rice just about everyday. I tried only eating it once a week or even once every two weeks....but I ended up only wanting it more, and eating more of it when I could. So now, I just eat 1/2 c. of rice once a day, instead of limiting myself drastically. It has worked out for me better this way. I drink a lot of water before every meal, so that helps too. However, I HAVE been buying stuff like quinoa. Not sure when I'll get around to trying it out though. lol My mom always says to just moderate my intake, and I'll be fine. Apparently, she's right.
