Veggies are great. Legumes are not.

I'm not sure how to edit this diet, so I'll just make a note here.
It is unfortunate that they lumped veggies and legumes into the same category because they really do not share the same macronutrient profiles at all.
Legumes are mostly starch, and therefore not helpful at all for eating the way I do.
Leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, winter squash are all fantastic and I eat them a lot. I even occasionally splurge on a baked plain sweet potato.
Just wanted to clarify.

And then there are legumes that are eaten as fresh, green vegetables.
Don't eat the things you don't think you should be eating and eat only things you should.
Why pick a diet you think is wrong for you?

Even legumes that are "fresh" still have way more starch in them than I can handle in my own parameters. I don't consider them as 'green vegetables' (they may be green, but they're a far cry from real leafy greens, LOL)
Perhaps a semantic difference, but based on macronutrient content.

Wonder if a baked sweet potato would not be starchier than most or at least some lentils
I eat both in small portions at odd times.

Congrats! on losing over 180 lb+ & maintaining it for 3 years! I know how hard it is to maintain. I lost over 150+ lbs around 3 years ago too. But promptly
put it back on when I started plateauing & actually gaining! on very little calories & thus lost serious motivation.
I became burned out & once I fell off the bandwagon I couldn't get back on it (no matter how hard I tried) until these last 4 months.

How would you classify something like Mange-tout then? Technically it's a legume, but it's comparable with some cabbages.

It is a semantic difference. The fact is that many people have done research, decided that they are safe to eat, and eat them with no issues.
It's more than an issue of semantics when you redefine normal foods to confuse other people, it is pedantry. Legumes really are a vegetable, as are fresh sweet corn and tomatoes.

LOL Corn is definitely a grain, and indeed tomato is technically a fruit.
There was a good point made that baked sweet potatoes probably have more starch than lentils. I have a baked sweet potato maybe once a month, as a treat. It would be hard to consider lentils a treat, hahaha.

If it is more important to you to make an ideological point than to communicate with people, you can set yourself up to try to re-educate the world. Since fresh corn, legumes, and tomatoes are always classed as vegetables, people will think you are weird and pay no attention to your opinion.
It's not like FatSecret made a bizarre and irrational decision to categorize legumes with vegetables. They did it the way it is always done, and that's where everybody is going to go to look for legumes, in the vegetables.

@eKatherine
*shrug*
I found it odd that they classifed legumes with vegetables.
But you're right, the definition of "vegetable" is very fluid in our culture. So perhaps I should not have been surprised.
Anyway, I eventually figured out how to split legumes from what I personally consider vegetables in my diet description, so I suppose there really isn't a problem, anymore.

Nuts are great, both the edible kind and the people kind. My favorites are almonds.
