I know water is a must, how much? I have 150 lbs to lose and and I've been told I need more than the standard 8 glasses, but what is the formula?

I've read you should drink half your body weight in ounces per day.

A good way to make sure is that your urine should be almost clear, not dark yellow.

The great water debate. If you are already drinking 8 glasses, Good for you! How can I say this? One way to tell if you are drinking enough water is to check the color of your pee. The lighter the better. Plus if you workout alot you need to make sure you stay hydrated. Anytime you are thirsty is a sign you are lacking water and already getting dehydrated.

Sorry I can't give you an exact formula. Maybe your doctor could reccomend a balance right for you. I drink water all day long. The 1st thing I do when I get up is drink a glass. Since I live in the desert. Water is number. I know people who have trouble drinking 1 glass of water let alone 8.

It helps too if you can drink a glass before you eat. Helps you feel fuller. Also drink cold water. Your body burns calories to warm it up. : )

For me, it's worked to drink a minimum of 12 glasses per day. It's a lot when you start out, but you get in the habit over time.
At work we have water fountains, and I just make it a habit to have a cup of water every time I pass it.

I was drinking the standard 8 glasses per day and the weight was very slowly coming off. Then I increased the water to 100 oz. a day and the weight is coming off a little better. Not a magic pill or anything, but it does help decrease the chance for water retention. I basically was aiming for 35 mL per kg of body weight and then added some to make it an even 100.
