I've submitted a couple of recipes they are just sitting there as pending. What does that mean?

It means it's not worth bothering to submit recipes except for your own convenience, as they don't seem to be reviewing submissions anymore. Same thing happened to me, so I no longer bother.

Not quite.
"Pending" is the starting state for recipes that are entered. It really doesn't mean anything, beyond the fact that you've entered it.
If you submit a recipe for the site-wide cookbook it will go into the status "awaiting approval". It might languish forever in this state, or it might end up getting approved. I've had some that were approved, and some that never were.

Yes, pending means that the moderators of this portal will approve them or not!

No. "Awaiting approval" means that the moderators will/will not approve them. "Pending" just means that you've entered the recipe into your own cookbook.

I just tried. It seems to be working.
Some posts that I see seem to indicate that some things does not work well with apps here -
I am using a PC and I have no issues with the cookbook
What were you trying to enter?
Maybe we could help you figure it out?

Yeah, they never get approved. It's better--I learned--to pick "don't share" because that way you can adjust the ingredients after you save it. It' still helpful to enter--especially if it's something you eat often. That said, if it's something simple like a stir fry, I usually just create a "favorite meal" and that way you can adjust ingredients and amounts every time you eat it.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.

I've submitted multiple recipes, and they all stay in either Pending or Awaiting Approval. I still find it helpful to put them in, because I print them out and put them in a recipe binder, and it makes it easy to add to the Food Diary for tracking. The tip on "Don't Share" is very helpful, I'll try that! It is frustrating not to be able to go back and modify, thanks!
