I cannot find it anywhere I've looked. I'm just wondering what IS resting? What does it consist of? Sitting, makes sense... Sleeping makes sense. But aren't you sitting or sleeping when you're resting?

Sleeping uses fewer calories than resting, because your body is deeper into a relaxed state.

Ha! So maybe for once my anxious inability to sleep when Im exhausted is a PLUS? Are you saying that my high-strung worrying tonight at 3:54am when my children will be bouncing through my door in no more than 3 hours may actually be helping my diet?? Why is it then that all these diet pro's always talk about the benefit to your loosing weight in getting plenty of sleep? You think they'd be encouraging us to stick to a minimum sleep pattern etc if sleeping slows down weight loss? I'm confused... hummm... probably because my brain is starved of the rest it needs and is now refusing to reason for me!! :S

Yes, you need to get rest. When you are stressed (and lack of sleep is a stressor) your body chemistry becomes very messed up and it becomes much harder to lose weight. I read of a study where a group of people told to get an extra hour of sleep lost weight with no dietary intervention.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
I'm reading this while eating some absolutely delightful fresh melon for breakfast. If the melon isn't soft enough on its own you could add it to a fruit smoothie.

Hmmm. Didn't realize plain yogurt was that high in carbs. I mentioned it because the friend who recommended it to me said her parents do it, and they are both on Atkins. I'm doing Paleo, but ...
