Okay I just had an epiphany in the toilets...

There is a full length mirror by the washbasins and I got a really good look at myself as I went to wash my hands and realised I'm not a "fat bloke" any more.

Don't get me wrong I'm still fat and I still have a lot left to lose, but the person in the mirror wasn't categorised, in my head, into "Fat" just "Big"...

I'm mildly excited about this (though the wattle I've developed where my extra chins were is a little gross)...

Other than our face we don't really look at ourselves in the mirror. Its a different perspective to looking down our bodies where we see bits and bobs hanging or sticking out. It does you good to see yourself as others do (most of the time lol)

I am eagerly awaiting this myself. I have taken comparison pictures and even though I am down 50 plus lbs. I can't really "see" it. Clothes fit much differently and sporadic comments are made, but in the mirror and photos I don't really see anything.

Shirt off I still see a giant midsection with a slight amount of fat around the upper arms and chest. Event the appearance of my moobs hasn't changed much. So, plug away I will, until that day.

You're admittedly one of my "to be emulated" folks on this site, so for my sake keep it up (kidding)!

Okay it's been over a month since I had my epiphany.

I still have a momentary disconnect when I see myself in the Mirror. It's not a "fat" person so it can't be me. Then I get a big grin when I realise it is.

Those are the best moments ever!
I remember a couple of years back, going to an outdoor concert and realizing I was probably the fattest one there, out of maybe 10,000 people. That sucked.
Then, two years later, we went to the same venue, and I remembered that feeling. I then realized that I was probably in the slimmest 20% of the crowd. Wow. Eye opener. Smile Life is good!

I started my weight loss journey on October 4th, 2010 - and this is what I have accomplished so far:

I mentioned something like this in a previous thread, I remember just suddenly becoming aware of how much smaller and leaner I had become, being able to feel my hip bones, ribs and most freaky of all my sternum!

I also notice my face in reflections sometimes and the lean taut face is totally at odds with what I had become accustomed to over the years

In fact the first thing people comment on is how my face has changed

I love reading these posts from all you guys. I can't wait to have some of the same "wow" moments of new self realization that you have had. Kingkeld - I have OFTEN felt like I was the biggest one in the room or event, and it's just heartbreaking, like you don't count in this world. Reading these made me smile and motivated! I've lost about 17 lbs since New years and hope to lose 20 more before our family vacation at the end of June. I can't wait to sit in that airplane seat and buckle up with extra seatbelt left to go this time. One of the last times I flew I sweated for 5 minutes trying to wiggle and adjust myself in the seat so I could buckle without asking for an extender. And trying not to let anyone see what I was trying to do (which I'm sure I failed at). Keep it up, everyone!

Yeah but it feels so good to look at the scale and see that kind of loss. I have kept it off so it could not have been water weight.
