It really depends on how fit you are and how much effort you put forth.
I have a bodymedia fit that tells me how many calories I burn. I do the DVD's at home and have been using them for at least year and a half. I started out burning close to 500 calories/hour. After losing weight, I usually only burn 400 calorie/hour. Part of this is due to the weight loss, part due to it being easier. I try to push myself - exaggerate the movements in order to get my heart rate up higher and burn a few more calories. I think a live class would probably burn more calories, but it depends on the instructor too. Also depends on your weight. I weigh 125 lbs. and still trying to shed the last 10-15 lbs (seems like forever I've been at 125).

High impact zumba burns 110 calories per 10 minutes with a technique score of 85% plus. Medium impact zumba burns 100 calories per 10 minutes with a technique score of 85% plus.
I got these figures from Nintendo Wii's Zumba Core game.
