What I do to hide my fat? When someone is taking a picture of me, I grab one of my darling children and pull them on my lap or hide behind them so the emphasis is off me.

What do you do? Wear a t-shirt over your swimsuit at the public pool? Buy only dark clothes? Imagine what you might do differently at your goal weight!!

I thought a little conversation like this would be useful for motivation.

Yep I do the baby thing too. I feel so uncomfortable having anyone take a picture just of me. I try to just get face shots most of the time, and definitly don't show off much skin, but then again I like to be modestly dressed anyways.

I wear baggy shirts. I want to wear more form fitting shirts when I lose more weight.

You let people take pictures of you? I think I went for about 5 years without a single picture taken of me. I became the photographer.

For a while I just didn't leave the house...but that just added to the fat problem. I have not attended things becuase I felt like I had nothing to wear. That is really depressing when I think about it.

Now I shop at stores like Lane Bryant where the clothes at least fit properly. I wear stuff that hides it well like a tank top with a sweater over it...I use tight fitting tanks under my shirts to smooth stuff out. I try to be the one behind the camera but if I must, I make people take pictures standing over me ..the angle is better for hididng fat.

Lol, yeah I wish I had more confidence! But it is hard, I have been in the mindset for so long that it really hasn't gone away yet. I really do still feel so awkward when my picture gets taken. And even when I look in the mirror I still see the same me a lot of the times, the same problme areas, the same everything. That is why progress pictures are so helpful, because when I look at them I am like wow, what a difference, but you don't see that as much in the mirror! And thank you for the kind words!

I used to buy clothes that were too small thinking I'd fit into them someday...now I have a closet full of clothes that don't fit. Granted, I'm getting into them now but I've found that if I find clothes that I love and feel good in, that fit,I feel good when I wear them. I don't wear baggy clothes or tight clothes, just clothes that fit my body and it actually helps me to look smaller. However,I always wear clothes that I feel flatter my shape like shirts that are naturally loose but have a band around the bottom (I've noticed shirts that just get bigger toward the bottom make me look bigger). I second wearing the tank under your shirt too! I go for the tanks that have some spandex so they're comfortable and snug and pull my tummy in a little. Since my belly is my problem area,I balance it out by wearing dark jeans that are slightly loose but fitted through the thigh and have a flare or bootcut. Haha, the art of dressing our bodies!

I am the photographer most of the time. If someone asks to take my picture, I laugh and say that I am in the federal witness protection program. That gets lots of giggles. Someday I will say that there are few pictures of me because I was in the fatty people protection program or something equally silly. You know how when you grow up and see things from childhood you think 'it seemed bigger when I was a kid'. I want my kids to say 'you seemed bigger when I was a kid' we well gets pix then. We don't go thru old pix anyway!
