I think weight and friends go hand in hand. As people gain weight, they tend to isolate themselves. But the good news is that the opposite is true also. When you start seeing some results, your self image will improve and you'll be happier... happiness attracts attention, ergo more friends.

I read Bob Green's book "Making the Connection". He's Oprah's trainer and the story and advice come from the early days of Oprah's struggle and how he convinced her that she needed to change her mindset to change the mirror. It's a really good read. Very reassuring and motivating.

If you want to lose weight, do it for you. . . not for them. The first step is to talk to a doctor. They can recommend eating plans and exercise that will work best. They also can keep track to make sure you are losing at a healthy pace or figure out why you aren't losing. Just set small goals and don't get discouraged. I've been trying for 2 years now, and have only just now seen the scales tip in my favor. But it took lots of bloodwork and journaling before we got a combination that worked for me. (((hugs)))

Check your attitide first, are you as engaging as you can be? People always say they got friends after losing weight but I think its also because they became funnier, more personable, looked after themselves more and projected great energy.
I have fat friends as well and I am careful of their influence especially if they don't watch what they eat or exercise but I love them fat or thin, as long as they are great to be around.
Lift your spirits, fix your hair, nails, give yourself a facial etc and that may make you feel better. Buy a great pair of sunglasses or lipstick. Thats always a good start. Much love.
