Never, I get really discouraged when I look at a scale. BUT I'm thinking I need to get one for this diet I'm on and hopefully I can get over this confidence issue and loose some weight.

Fluctuations drive me crazy. I love the downward trend. However, When it fluctuates up a pound or two. Usually two. Going against the math, I get bothered by it. So, I completely understand when someone does not want to, or finds it unproductive to weight daily. I guess it comes down to personal preference and how much one likes to torture themselves.

For some people often is good, but for those of us on the upper end of the scale, I think weekly is good. Weighing in too often when you are already heavier than most can be a real morale killer if things aren't going as you had hoped.

Don't fret. We at the other end have our own set of issues that come with weighing daily. Trust me, I live it.

I weigh everyday. That way if I was stupid the day or week before I can correct my eating. This way weight doesn't sneak up on me.

Weighing daily makes it so you can make small changes over time. Weighing infrequently or hoping to lose weight often result in no weight loss or even weight gain. Sorry.
Putting too much into a single weighing is a bad idea too. Look at your weight over time. I've put an image below from the service that I use that allowed me to lose 45 + pounds and keep it off. If I can do it, anyone can with the right tools and motivation.
Below you can see my last 6 months, weighing every day. You'll notice that I'm in maintenance mode. If I didn't weigh often I wouldn't be able to maintain my weight. Note: I lost the weight over a longer period before I used the service. It was much harder then because I couldn't see the weight drop.

I make my menu every morning. I eat only what is on my menu. If things change, I revise my menu.
I know what I am eating; so I know I am not gaining weight.
I weigh every day. When the scale moves, I know it, and I claim it .
Works for me!
Keeps me accountable too.
For me accountability is what it is all about.

I weigh every day too. The scale is sitting there in the bathroom; I can't resist getting on it. I try not to let it upset me if it fluctuates a little. If it goes up more than two pounds, I know I am in trouble.

I too weigh myself everyday. It helps to keeps me accountable, and I like being able to keep a daily track of it. If I didn't, I wouldn't catch problem foods early on, and nip it in the bud before I really start gaining back weight. Doing things this way, has shown me that there are certain foods that though they are low carb, my body still reacts badly to them. Seeing the scale go up doesn't bother me so much anymore, because I know that the next day or two days from now I could see a loss... meaning I was retaining water or something I stopped eating something my body disagreed with. The only time it stresses me is when I hit plateaus... but then I am still able to catch it early on and try certain methods of breaking through it. *shrugs* It works for me.

my problem with weighing my self every day is that my body weight fluctuates really fast. monday night I bought a scale and weighed my self and it said 256.8 the next morning i weighed in at 249.4, the morning after that I was at 254.4. I dont understand how my weight can fluctuate so much over night.

Precisely why weighing more frequently helps you. If you wait one month, then you can't fix the problems. It allows you to "cheat" b/c it won't show up on the scale since you won't weigh in for several more weeks. I have to stay on top of it to stay focused. My mother, who has never had a weight probably, always said to weigh daily to make sure your weight stays stable. Her weight has probably fluctuated maybe 10 lbs. her entire adult life and she is 75. Of course, I never weighed myself when I was obese, but now I see the benefit. I have done the once a month weighing, the once a week, the every 10 days. But now I am back to daily. I accept the fluctuations and know that I can be up 3 lbs. one day and down 1 the next, but as long as I stay on track it will come down. I've been battling the last 15 lbs. for awhile now, but I still feel I need to weigh in daily to help with focus. Once a week has worked for me, but what if that one day I am retaining fluid -then I am upset! I log my lowest weight and then if I don't have a new low weight within 7 days, then I log whatever I weigh on day 7. But I also keep up with the daily weights just to track trends. I am hoping this will help me stay focused during maintenance. Helping me be aware of trends so that I won't be frustrated when I reach goal and struggle to hold at my goal weight.
