I have been on induction (with the exception of adding peanuts) for 9 weeks and don't plan on change to the next step until I loose at least 25 more pounds.

Just wondering how long others have stayed in the Induction phase before they moved on to OWL.

I am only day 6 of doing Atkins but a few years ago my husband stayed in induction for 9 months and lost over 100 lbs (he started over 400 lbs got down to 280s). Towards the end he was doing modified induction meaning he ate some nuts and a few other OWL foods but kept it to 20-25 carbs per day. I plan on adding nuts and berries after 2 weeks but plan to keep the carb count down to 20-25 as well. Smile They say if you have a lot to lose its okay to stay in induction longer. Good luck!

Do you eat the Atkins treats and shakes? How often?

Thanks NightAgelX for the reply! I think at this point I might stay on induction for a long while... It scares me to start adding foods (other than nuts and berries), I'm afraid my cravings for carbs will come back!

Purple- I do not drink Atkins shakes or eat the treats, I do however always have a box of the Atkins Day Break Bars. I will eat them for breakfast if I am in a pinch, usually only 1/2 a bar though. I find that if I eat to many of the Atkins products my weight loss stalls or is very slow.

Thanks MFD1979. I love those things, I started to throw them out cause alot of people say they can hinder weight loss. This is my 3rd day and I use about 2 snacks a day or 1 shake and 1 snack.

I also stayed in induction for about 5 months. I lost over 60lbs and when I got close to goal weight I added nuts and berries a couple of times a week. What a treat that has been! So its fine to stay in induction for as long as you think that you need to. Its whatever works for you, as long as you do go through the stages and learn what your carb number is going to be you should be fine. Best wishes!
If you have the right mindset then nothing can stop you from reaching your goals! Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
You can use shakes for a few days. I have used the Atkins shakes and they are very good tasting. Soups are good though as stated above you may have to puree them. You could puree or blend cottage cheese ...
