If we all cut out salty foods, sugary foods, processed foods, high fat foods, alcohol etc, we'd all have alot less weight problems and health problems but where would the enjoyment be? So for me it has to be about making healthier choices and balancing the best of the above, ie, wholemeal, wholegrain, lean meats, fresh fruit and vegetables and low fat options. A well balanced diet

Bad idea. The best diet is a well balanced one. Our bodies needs proteins, dairy products, carbs, grains, and even fats.

This is incorrect. Of all the macro nutrients there is one you can live without if you choose, and that is carbohydrates.

I can also live without getting out of bed if I choose. That doesn't mean that it's healthy for my body.

Sorry, I just cringe whenever anyone chooses to vilify a certain macronutrient or food. There must be something to be said for low-carb diets since so many people make that choice, but to completely eliminate carbs from your diet? I just don't see the point.

If you have some backup as to how/why eliminating all carbs from your diet is a good idea, I'm all ears.

No peer reviewed studies just anecdotal. I personally would never push someone to eliminate carbs, but that really wasn't my point. My point was if you choose to abstain, you do not need carbohydrates.

There are plenty of people who do seem to thrive on an essentially carb-free diet, and many of them get a fair amount of exercise. I have no desire to eat such a diet myself. But it does happen.

It's off the wall, no question. Is it more off the wall than a vegan diet, or a fat-free diet? Maybe not.

Can you do yogurt? A friend recommended to me plain yogurt with splenda mixed in. Maybe try that with some berries. I've been putting frozen raspberries in my protein shake.
